Management is the bigger problem. They have some control over aircraft types too. They want to get by with the lowest payroll/overhead and thinnest staffing possible.

How do they have control over aircraft types?

Default Training time line?

Hello guys I was curious how delayed is Piedmont class dates? Potentially interviewing soon and weighing my options. Pretty much will go with the regional with the quickest class date just to get the ball rolling. Thanks in advance!

Think really hard about going to a 50 seat carrier (although Piedmont is a better bet than the others)

For those who have gotten a CJO from Piedmont - how long was it valid for, how long did you have to accept/reject it?

your reasoning behind PDT shutting down is debunked. We have no shortage of pilots at PDT. You are assuming that PDT will be shutting down due to lack of pilots, but we have had the most pilots on property in 3+ Years with only 50 a/c. stop the fear mongering.

Piedmont, and every regional, needs the following to survive ongoing unprecedented attrition
1) many new hires (ie applications)
2) many upgrades (ie 1000 hr pilots)
3) ground training humming
4) flight training humming (ie many lca’s)

each of those is critical… the airline will fold without it.

When the majors start deciding where to pay more to prop up failing regionals, 50 seat carriers are likely to suffer.

It's not just attrition vs hiring. that's relatively easy.

It's can they keep the training department staffed to run max size classes
Will they have enough people with 1000 hours to upgrade
Can they keep enough LCA's to constantly move new FO's and new captains in.

None of this is particularly unique to Piedmont. The issue is will American throw money at Piedmont to keep the 50 seat lift when Envoy and PSA and Mesa and Republic and Skywest are all bleeding and asking for $$ too.

Explain Jr man, extensions, and 300% pay if PDT isn’t short on pilots. I don’t agree they are shutting down, but be realistic. The company has made no mention of growing in the future or adding another a/c type that AA doesn’t want to eliminate.
