No one is "helping" the company by doing this. In fact, it would be better for the company to do what you are proposing.

Sapping to 65 and picking up later is a great strategy and does not hurt other pilots, and do not hurt the industry. You are 100% wrong in saying that.

I bet I can tell you with 75% accuracy which days will go critical in July. I am going to SAP July 1-6th off, and pick up a trip. I will be paid 150% for it. It will probably be a 17-18 hour trip. I will get paid 27 for it.

So, I will work 12 days, and then pick up another 4 day, totaling no more than 16 days working. I will get 15 days off, and credit about 95 hours. There is nothing wrong with that.

Now if people are dropping down to less than 11 days off a month, that I have a problem with that. But there is nothing wrong with making as much money you can and still getting 14 or 15 days off
Are you FO or CA?

That is my schedule for June after the SAP. you can see the date of 5/21 on the top of the pictures. I usually SAP off the first and last week of each month, but I needed the 10th off so that's why I have the first 11 days off. the next picture ill post is the 3 day trip I picked up. about 11 hours credit, but after critical it paid 21.9 hours. That's about 7 hours more than an average 3 day. That's about 300 bucks I would miss out on, if I just picked it up in the SAP for the exact same amount of days off.

Any bets on wether or not the 1-6th of July will go critical? At least 2 or 3 of the days?

The rest are both on saturadys and Sunday's, that's why they're such high credit. And secondly, you're an FO. The critical game is different for CLT captains.

I'm an FO, but from what ive heard from the captains, I'm fairly confident I could have a similar schedule once im a line holder. I actually got lucky and got displaced off the trip I picked up to an easier trip that finished 4 hours earlier and I was pay protected so I kept the 21.9 hours pay. and again...that was a crappy trip. if you get lucky and find a 14-15 hour 3 day in open time it would pay around 25-28 if it was critical.

I'll also admit, I got a little lucky in the SAP and found some high credit trips, but even I didn't get lucky id still have 18 off, or 19 off if it was a 31 day off. Which, after picking up that 3 day would give me 87 credit with 15 and 16 days off.

It probably will, it's a holiday bud. Think about why it's going critical, the least desirable days to work. Most people don't want to work on holidays or weekends and a small premium isn't worth it. I'll take weekends and holidays off with my friends and family over working on those days for a small premium. Unless it's a week day and I have nothing going on, premium pay isn't work it for me.

I never said I get weekends off. But even if I wanted weekends off im sure id only have to sacrifice one day to make it work. I also don't care to work weekends. like I said....I usually SAP off the first and last week off of every month. I just needed the 10th off this month. every one is different, but id rather have 2 different stretches of a week off every month than be concerned about weekends. and if I don't pick anything up...the last week off of the current month and the first week off of the next month gives me 2 weeks off straight. I don't care about weekends.

You are making excuses now. May 1-7th went critical for CLT CAs. Was that a major holiday as well? Weren't most of those days actually week days.

How about May 14-17th? Those 4 days also went critical. 3 week days right there.

If you can't figure out how to make it for you, that is fine. But it does work, and people do it every month. Don't say that it doesn't. You are missing out on a lot of free money.

I never bothered looking at the reserve grid until Christmas came around so I cant tell you how it was last year. but since then the first 3 days of EVERY month has been critical. doesn't matter if its a holiday. I can bank on it.
