Thumbs down Classless Recruiters PSA

Sending out emails/facebook etc to Expressjet folks that you are now having an "Open House" in Atlanta next week and to come join your awesome team. Really classless the way your pathetic recruiters are "poaching" these guys this soon. Truly pathetic!

Sorry I'm failing to see the point of your disdain here. "Poaching" aka "headhunting" happens in every industry, in every industrialized nation on the planet, and can be argued that it drives wages and benefits upward. If the recruiters are being forthright and honest about representing their respective companies then what's the big deal? It's up to the applicant to sign on the dotted line. So I don't know where this "poaching" idea comes from" We don't have press gangs in the industry....yet

It can also be argued that XJT (my original 121 outfit for which I hold in high regard btw) is a destressed carrier at this point and is a **** deal for a lot of people over there right now.

You have a beef with Delta or SWA holding "open houses" too?

So whats the appropriate timeline for PSA to invite XJT guys to attend a purely voluntary open house to simply find out more info about PSA?

Is it before or after people start losing thier jobs?

Seriously? Are you that clueless? The obvious motivation behind this event is not to "assist" these pilots. It's business and I get that. However, common sense should tell your recruiters that setting up this event less than a week after the announcement shows really poor discernment. Many that have received this email are a bit disgusted by its timing. The fortunate thing is that all ASA pilots have positions waiting for them at XJT and with the American flying and none are losing their jobs as you say. The unfortunate part will be the displacements for many! (pilots)

There's a big difference between a Delta or SWA open house and what PSA is doing. With those airlines the "headhunting" involve a move to a major carrier with huge increases in salary, contract terms, and qol.

PSA on the other hand is just acting like the ugly person in the bar trying to snag some meat at closing time.

Easy there, killer. I'm trying to have a reasonable and civil conversation on APC (I know, **** me, right?)

Clearly this isn't your first rodeo, and you've seen this before. I mean are you really surprised? Like regional airlines doing **** like this actually surprises you? Come on, man. XJT would do the same thing if the tables are turned, just like any other airline. It's all about bodies in seats and they don't really care how they go about doing it.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether PSA really NEEDS to do an open house or not. XJT guys and gals have been kicked in the juevos enough to the point where it's probably not even necessary. Look, some are going to find the email distasteful and say "**** those guys" and not go, and some will see an opportunity and attend. So what? It is self serving in PSA's part? Totally. Again, so what? It's business and you know as well as I do that management doesn't give a **** if something will upset a pilot group. You may not like it, but I'm pretty sure more than a couple of guys a XJT aren't really concerned about that YOU think, because they have their families to look after first. And they're probably pretty ****ed off and frustrated too. I would be.

But go ahead and be upset, I guess. I'm sure recruiting departments industry wide will have a change of heart based on your disdain for PSA's open house and just not hire XJT guys because it ****es you off.

I'm pretty sure based on your prior experience and general disdain for PSA, you'd have a negative view of pretty much anything they'd do. They could be handing out ice cream to homeless kids and you say they're encouraging childhood obesity.

And hey, for some people making a lateral move to another regional is an increase to pay, contract terms, and QOL. It's all relative.

Fair enough, I wouldn't say my opinion is unbiased at all. I also wouldn't tell you I've never been the ugly person in the bar at the end of the night.

I agree, when I left PSA DEC to become a GoJet DEC I had an increase in pay, contract terms, and quality of life.

See? To each their own. Which is the point I'm trying to make in all of this. Glad it worked out for you. Really, I mean that.
