As a junior FO, the likelihood of you flowing is quite low and even if you do, American will have hired 5-10,000 pilots ahead of you. You’d be better off going to spirit (or sun country) now than American in 2030

I’m an FO here. Tbh even tho I am still on reserve. Things haven’t been bad here. QOL has been good, not many complaints. Anyways.. anyone know how to get to United? I’m going to volunteer at the local animal shelter this summer. I have some mil experience (non flying), and I am close to finishing a degree, but still probably need another year on that.
So how many hours of 121 time are you getting, and how soon will you be able to upgrade. It used to be 1000 hours of 121 TPIC was the ante to get in the game at all. It’s a lot easier now, but 121 hours are still the name of the game. And that means block, not credit.

I'm in the same boat, also an FO on reserve here, doing an online degree and looking to go to united. I think the best bet is just to stick with your plan, get the turbine/121 time and get the degree done. Going to an LCC probably won't get you to united any faster if you just need more 121 time, so don't think that's a good idea especially if it's just going to be a stepping stone.

And with the POSSIBLE exception of the degree, none of that means a damn thing.

If you guys want United, you need to get flying asap and upgrade or fly some and lateral to ACMI/ULCC (This seems to be the quickest path). Otherwise you guys will be sitting in regional purgatory. I do get the not wanting to commute part….. But sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat too.
