Forgive my ignorance to airline SOP (I'm 135) but I only know what the acronym for ACARS stands for. I'm assuming it a wt & balance computer program used by airlines?

It's an air/ground communication system. Wt & balance numbers are just one example of the data which can be sent to the aircraft. Other examples are weather warnings, reroutes, etc. Crews can request information from the dispatcher or report passenger problems, and block times are automatically sent in.

iPads will be in the future. They have a few instructors in the training department working on the implementation. I would say within the next year

Now if I call is that by the half hour or full hour? This sounds so much cheaper than what I've been using in Dayton.

As stated W&B acars unless deferred.
That's not what they taught in class. It may be different on the flight line which I had hoped it would be. During ipt they taught us to repeat the name of the airfield and the intended runway of departure three times during the taxi checklist. The procedures weren't hard. I never said they were. There is too much mandatory talking going on in a PSA flight deck and a good bunch of call outs that could be avoided, more so than average. I thought the training staff at PSA were extremely helpful and generous. The W&B was easy. If you can't pass PSA ground school you don't need to be flying 121. I went to Compass for other reasons.

Hah yeah you definitely do not have to brief the airport you are taking off from to the guy next to you three times. You just have to check once that the ACARS data is not only for the correct runway but correct airport as well. If you don't initialize the airports properly you could get takeoff data for 23 in CLT instead of 23 in OAJ for example.

The extensive briefings and taxi checklist are a cause and effect result of the CRW overrrum incident a few years ago.
