I know guys getting clt before starting IOE. Don't know how long that will last. Not sure how the lines are being divided since Mesa is pulling out.

I am in the Jan 19th class, and have a few questions.
Is TYS still most junior, then DAY, them CLT? I will be commuting from DFW and CLT is my first choice. If assigned something other than CLT, I understand I can bid for it at the next vacancy.
They told us during the interview that there are vacancy bids every two weeks as that is how frequently there are new hire classes, is this still the case?
How long after being awarded a new base does the transfer occur?
Would bidding DAY in the hopes of holding a line sooner and then only transferring to CLT once I can hold a line be a good strategy?
With regards to the SAP, would it be feasible to pick up a two-day that has a show after your released on day 4? This getting a five day in to ease the commute?
Thanks

Typically, you get a couple of bid periods before you finish IOE. Lately, the split seems to have been 50% CLT/25%TYS/25%DAY. If you don't get it on the first bid, you will get it soon after. Most people have their choice before they hit the line. CLT has the most growth by far, and will have the most openings. I would expect another base to open in 6 months or less. Latest rumors have it being Chicago or NY.

Yes, there are new classes every 2 weeks with about 30-35 people per class. The classes appear to be full through the end of March as of right now, with a wait list of people trying to fill open seats in earlier classes if anyone drops out. By the time that you take your orals and head to sims, you will have at least 100 people behind you on the seniority list.
Would bidding DAY in the hopes of holding a line sooner and then only transferring to CLT once I can hold a line be a good strategy?
Some people do this, and I personally think it is a decent strategy. Once you hold a line, you can participate in the SAP, and make your schedule even better for commuting.
With regards to the SAP, would it be feasible to pick up a two-day that has a show after your released on day 4? This getting a five day in to ease the commute?
It is certainly possible to start a 2 day on the day after a 4 day, but it might not work every time. Usually, if you want it to, your schedule after SAP will look almost nothing like the schedule that you bid on. You can customize it to meet your needs.
Thanks
Most of the new hires are previous 121 or military. The attrition rate of the new FO's is pretty high and this will continue. There seem to be as many FO's going to majors/LLC as there are senior guys. I know that everyone says that the fast upgrades are over, but it is not the case yet. They will end, but the guys in the next several classes are certainly looking at upgrades of less than 2 years. Expect attrition to be 20+ a month starting this spring. That coupled with the 30 new pilots needed a month with 3 new airplanes arriving, there will be plenty of movement.
