I forget the actually phraseology in the contract, but it mentioned something along the lines of "if the company does not incur any additional cost". Is that ever an issue when asking them to DH you from (or to) somewhere else?
I haven't had any issues yet.Quite a
few trips out of TYS start out with a DH
to CLT, DCA, or PHL..I've had all three
on my schedule.I usually call schlng
the day before and request Alternate
Deadhead so I just leave from home
airport direct to the flight assignment
bypassing the domicile..It's a lot easier

Will they deadhead you on the parent airline?

Also, how short of notice before your class date did you receive a travel itinerary? Those I've talked to in the January 5th class haven't heard a peep about it. I figured with the holidays it probably wasn't a high priority for them, but I'm hoping I hear something by early next week.
OMFG, You are at an airline and you are just NOW feel PRETTY confident with your charts? Maybe the Derg and the crowd at Jetqueers and get you up to speed on how to read them.

I am pretty sure that he was saying that he is getting used to Jepp as opposed to NACO charts. We all know that there are many differences, with some being more subtle than others.

I agree. I wonder how many clt pilots pick up open time in Tys that has a DH from clt to Tys and vice versa for the originator and terminator

What do you mean by this? Do you still receive a positive space ticket?

Two things about the DH. First the company will not DH you from your home airport to start an assignment. They will only must ride you from your base. Secondly if you are on reserve you have to do the DH from/to your domicile. I have tried before to get out of a DH on reserve and got a big fat no.
