You realize someone making $80k pays more than $1.00 a year on taxes right? You realize $1.00 here $1.00 there adds up right?
You realize the average American loses 1/3 of his salary just in state and federal income taxes (at least the 53% who do pay income taxes as mitt romney conveniently reminded us in 2012). This Doesn't even include sales tax, the 100+ other taxes Americans pay (ie capital gains), or inflation. So yes. It's just a dollar is a silly argument.

Yes. I'm well aware because I was the one to look up exactly where my money goes. And as I've said in previous posts, my wife and I are okay with the $2 of our $40,000 we pay going to EAS...And I would support an educated approach to evaluating the effects of eliminating the subsidy..Not slash and burn approach to budgets. I don't want another sequestration. That was handled terribly. Again, I'm more concerned that 300x times that money is being spent on nuclear weapons to sit in dirty holes in the ground becoming more and more irrelevant. Or why 2000x times that goes to food stamps.

Then you don't know many in the military. I'd say about 10% of my military friends have less than 1500, maybe 30% have less than 3500, but the rest all have over that, many over 5,000.

Generally grouped by weapon system. Bombers, cargo and tankers fly much more with some exceptions (looking at you C130). Fighters generally fly very little.

True. But let's not forget their dirty little cousins, the ones who drive birds with wings that spin. (The NERVE!!). They often come out with quite a few hours.

Oddly, though the 121 1,000 hours required for upgrade is reduced my 500 hours for military pilots, the fighter guys don't get to enjoy it (not multi-crew), and even the helo guys (twin-turbine, multi-crew cockpits, full IFR capability) don't get to play either. Hardly seems fair.

Taxes don't work like that. You just can't opt in and out of what you agree with and what you don't. And you're right. I don't agree with a lot of the military spending (which have happened under both parties) but I just can't choose to not send my $1.00.
So, I'm glad you and your wife are OK with it. Lots of people aren't. Please feel free to write the federal government and extra large check April 15th if you and your wife are so adamant about EAS.
Yes, I agree there is excessive military spending. We can have that convo. But we aren't talking about military spending However, military spending is only part of problems. Entitlements are just as, if not more of a problem, than military spending.
or yo

Military aviation is almost a completely different job. Trust me. Fighters and helo guys should not be getting exemptions like that. Heavy guys being an exemption.

That's not the way public forums work, in case you didn't realize that. People can quote and comment on pretty much anything they want to. You don't get to pick and choose which comments others quote.

Now, if you wish to discuss the wasted bandwidth of useless posts, I'd be happy to entertain you. This is, after all, APC...

Pray tell, why do ye make such a broad, sweeping assumption about helo guys? Were you one in a previous life?

Take my word for it. No. They shouldn't. Not to say some helo guy flying a uh 60 crash hawk isn't a good pilot. But, no. Not 121 time.
