Taxes don't work like that. You just can't opt in and out of what you agree with and what you don't. And you're right. I don't agree with a lot of the military spending (which have happened under both parties) but I just can't choose to not send my $1.00.
So, I'm glad you and your wife are OK with it. Lots of people aren't. Please feel free to write the federal government and extra large check April 15th if you and your wife are so adamant about EAS.
Yes, I agree there is excessive military spending. We can have that convo. But we aren't talking about military spending However, military spending is only part of problems. Entitlements are just as, if not more of a problem, than military spending.

And by the way, I also support some entitlement programs as well.

I'm not saying I am doing my taxes a la carte. I'm saying that of the $40,000 I gave to the government last year, EAS accounts for $2 of that. And if the program truly is beneficial, I'm okay with them continuing to fund the EAS. And I have written my congressmen and my wife has as well. I understand you are not okay with it, but that's the glory of a democracy. It may not survive but I still support it. I don't have to write an extra large check. I'll write mine and you'll write yours whether you agree with it or not.
And by the way, I also support some entitlement programs as well.

And by the way, nearly all of those entitlement programs aren't the job of the federal government either.

And by the way. You don't live in a democracy. You live in a constitutional Republic. And sorry EAS isn't a job of the federal government according to our constitutional Republic.

Well on that note. Thanks for your $40,000. Next year though, try not to be so cheap if your going to keep voting for those dumbasses you speak of.

I will only give what I'm legally required to give. Your opinion isn't right and neither is mine. It's an opinion. Political science can be viewed through many lenses and the reason our government has functioned so well for hundreds of years is because of the continued compromise of the elected representatives across the spectrum. The founding fathers didn't all think the same things unlike what many people say. I'm glad there are conservatives and libertarians and socialists and liberals. If we work together to come to an acceptable solution to all of them, the most amount of people benefit. The greatest thing about our constitution? It is a living document designed to be changed over time. In fact, the first thing the FF did after signing it was change it.

I flew EAS routes for two years. I have never witnessed a more wasteful, inefficient use of our money.

Ahhh, the beautiful sound of silence when someone finally realizes they can't back up their uninformed argument.

The problem with lawsuits is that not only are we passing laws that have no basis in the constitution but we are appointing liberal judges who legislate from the bench. Case in point, where in the constitution is the right to health insurance, social security, housing, food stamps, education, student loans, etc. So we are now stuck with all entitlements. This is exactly how a republic dies. In some time in the future, probably within 100 years, we will seize to exist as a republic.

I'm pretty certain the ONE common denominator to a dying "republic" is the spread of wealth inequality, and unfortunately federal provisions and handouts are mostly never talked about..
