I'm usually swearing at my airline.

The xjet koolaid must be pretty tasty. I don't hear anybody else say they are as happy as the Xjet guys say they are. Republic guys brag about the speedy upgrade. Skywest guys seem ok with thier situation. I'm in a better place with Eagle than I was before.

Nobody oozes happiness they way Xjet does. Nobody else is onboard with Management's plans, like the Xjeters are. Maybe because they've still got a good contract. Maybe its because they're weaning off Mama Cal's feed bag and are doing things on their own.

I dunno.

But management is doing something the pilot's like over there.

I think a lot of it also has to do with management not bending over for CAL, they believe in the employees blah blah blah................makes me actually wanna do my best and help get the a/c of the gate on time..............happy employees make the best employees.......... I fly with some grumpy guys, but never had a CA once written up something to screw the company, or pushed late to screw the company.happened at COLGAN quite a bit

thats nice to hear you guys care about your company. but pushing late or taxing with all engines is not just a way to screw the company when youre upset with them. it was a way to bring up important safety issues or raise legitimate concerns about crew treatment. who in their right mind wants to turn an airplane on time when your turn time is under 30 minutes. it isnt because of hate for the company, its because it just isnt right. at any rate, you guys probably have better turn times so they dont hang you out to dry in the first place. and hopefully when you move on up to CAL that positive corporate culture will continue.

Southwest does it regularly in 25 minutes with a 737. Know why their employees work that hard? They believe in the company and the company believes in them by offering them the incentives to work hard (better pay, bonuses, better environment, etc). Its the same deal at XJT especially now that our future is in our own hands.

I think CAL is beginning to realize the mess on their hands with the Cha-take-your-job-away thing but as long as Larry's bottom line improves in the short term, it must be a good decision, right? Personally, I make a point of saying ExpressJet as much as possible on PAs and when talking to pax just to distance ourselves from that whole mess over there with CHQ. Kinda sucks that CHQ gets to use CoEx titles because now they are making us look bad.

PS
Anyone heard the rumors of CAL suing CHQ for the cost of all the denied boarding compensation given out at CHQ stations? Have heard its costing CAL, on average, $70,000 per month per CHQ station. Also have heard that CAL is mad at CHQ for not using ACARS or a decent W&B program. Gotta love the circus

exactly. incentives. what incentive do you get at a regional for arriving early or turning an airplane in 25 minutes. you get to keep your job, yay.

until then. take your time. taxi slow and on 2 engines, and fly long range cruise a la northwest right now

I've heard XJT is a good place to be. Do new guys get EWR? If you ask for EWR, are you going to get it? I have heard a rumor that CAL does not want to hire XJT guys - is there any truth to this?

I'm just starting to look into regionals - I've been out of flying for a few years, and want to learn as much as I can before sending in apps.

Just don't do that in your PA's when you fly with me, please. Don't you remember us being told specifically not to mention ExpressJet in our PA's? Anybody that cares enough about the quality of regional jet flying at CAL will know whether it's CHQ or XJT without you saying it on the PA's.

I'm sure your CA will appreciate the call from the Chiefs when a Continental exec. rides on one of your flights and hears your PA.

There is -0- truth that CAL doesnt like to hire XJT guys. CAL has hired more XJT pilots than from any other pilot group.

You should be able to get EWR quickly but probably not as a new hire. Not right now anyway.Good luck

Right now most new hires will likely be sent out west to LAX or ONT..... challenging, exciting, and diverse flying out there.... Those two bases will have destinations like: LAS, MRY, RNO, SFO, SAN, SEA, YVR, PDX, SLC, HDN, OAK, along with our mexico flying. We now fly to probably 35-40 mexico destinations.... No one even compares to the variety of destinations XJT operates in and out of.
EWR will likely still remain quite junior among new hires though so if you want it....not too hard.

I've had times where we were running late and station ops gets us turned in under 25 minutes.... quickest ive done was about 18 minutes... We get minimum 30 scheduled but it can easily be done it less.....When stuff works well..... we operate among the best.....

The stuff about being on board with management is the truth.... Weekly voicemails full of new info so communication is a part of the key. Movement is good (upgrades holding at or just below 2 years), new bases, new flying, an optimistic future, decent contract, top notch Mx..... What more could you ask for out of a company? I Can't say enough good things about this place.... Not much of a comparison to my alma mater (TSA *cough*) that furloughed me......
