Tipping Van Drivers

i completely agree. And that’s where I stand, when drivers, waiters, food delivery etc. are friendly and provide a good service, I provide a tip. I don’t tip if I wait in the cold then have to load my own bags. But there are people who want tip regardless of service

If the FO isn’t tipping, I’ll tip for him/her. It’s customary to tip someone who handles your bags, the same way it’s customary to tip a bellman at a hotel for bringing your bags to your room or a valet driver for parking your car.
If you don’t agree with the tipping economy we live with here in the USA then fine, we can have that conversation. Europeans in general don’t tip anywhere near as much as we do here because they’re all paid a much higher wage and the prices reflect that. But whether you agree with tipping or not the fact remains that it’s frowned upon to not tip someone who is working a job where tips are part of their income.

For those of you that swear by the social norm or any other argument that has been made, knock yourself out. But let’s be honest. Many of you throw a dollar or 2 at the van driver because it makes you feel less uncomfortable than not doing so. Spare me the moral superiority. I’m at peace knowing that my qualities as an airline pilot, a professional, or a leader come from being responsible, respectful, caring, empathetic, and loving to my family, my community, my friends, the public, and the planet I inhabit.

You’re making double of what your FO is making and 5-10 times what your FA’s are making.
Bet you still tip a dollar?
Since it’s “customary”?

tough question because there is such a large spectrum of bad people. I mean are you BTK or Hitler bad? I don't think so. But it does expose some unfavorable personality traits to your crew.
