I would love to see a breakdown as to what part of the country guys are from and/or grew up in regarding this thread, and there opinions on tipping.

Speaking of tipping, anyone else weirded out by the bathroom attendants some places down South? I always get caught with my pants down when they ask for a tip.

I tip five dollars for each ride.

I've never seen, nor heard a van driver complain about a crew member, and I've never seen nor heard one mutter under their breath.

I've not had hotel personnel complain about crew members, but over this past year, I've had a number of hotel personnel express thanks for crew members staying at the hotel; in several cases, crew made up the bulk of those staying, and the hotel recognized that. How one treats hotel staff, including the driver, may have some part in how one is treated.

I know crew members who have been terminated for treating hotel staff badly. I don't disagree. Your behavior is not only a reflection on the company, but on you.

good for you being so generous. I tend to think 5 dollars for taking my bag is a bit much though. I do a dollar for airport hotels and 2 for longer rides downtown.

You know that it’s extremely difficult to be 100% frugal all of the time. I do allocate few dollars here and there for purchasing things. My parents pay my car insurance and gas each month, so that helps me out big time

Nailed it!

Have some pride in your job, you made it! You’re an airline pilot. You should be a leader, and you should hold yourself to some sort of ethical and moral standard. Stiffing the van drivers because “you don’t see the point” or “you don’t want to cave to social norms” is weak. Stiffing them because you don’t carry cash is just poor planning. Get your sh!t together and pretend you’re a professional.

It’s truly a sign of the times if it makes you feel that much better and a Real Airline Pilot giving another human being $1........

Besides your van driver just got $1400
