I know of a few guys that commute from places like PHX, SLC, SEA. I'm sure it can be tough but it is certainly possible.

I'm originally from So Cal and moved to Ann Arbor when I got based out here in DTW... Sure makes like a heck of a lot easier if you're sporting reserve but I have met a guy who commutes from LAX. I don't envy the commute but it's doable.

Side note, anyone take a stab at how much movement we might see for Saab FO's in DTW?

ahhh yes... forgot about that little gem. Is it two days now? I'm pretty sure they were only doing a one day (which was plenty long IMO) course when I went trough it. Yes, bring you plates (and a good book) to FMS training as well.

High speeds are out and backs, anything else for the most part is a pairing, you may find a few day trips in there, but I have been based at MSP for quite a while so I really dont know a whole lot about DTW..,,But anyways leave the backpack at home.

All mesaba questions should be asked here. This new fracturing of threads has shortened the gap between us and the "comair updates" page. We must keep our #1 thread seniority intact, even if it means useless post like this one! No, just joking. But, I am fairly certain that if you took all the different closed "I hate Go Jets" posts and put them together, we would be beat about 2 to 1. (Please don't start a debate about them on here. I like this post to much to have it thrown away.)

I'm on the new 08-04 vacancy as a new hire. I'm the second youngest in the class and there are only 3 out of 11 spots in MEM for new hires (I want MEM). Does age within class determin base/base choice? I'm sure the answer is on one of these 235 pages of info, but I can't find it.

with some DTW/MEM/MSP SF34 CA taking the CR9 CA spots we should hopefully see some more fairchild movement

Also some CR2 CA's took the CR9 in MSP which means more CR2 vacancies, which will likely come from MSP SF34 CA's

anyone have other thoughts on future Saab movement after this latest vacancy?

Age in your class determines seniority. As for base assignment, I am uncertain. I think they just put you in one of the vacant bases and let you bid out of it once you get access to mymesaba. IMO you will get one of the MEM spots and if you do not get it initially, you can bid out of it and be based there before you even starty flying the line.
