Just a two week stint without medical benefits? That can't be right. I don't mean that in a "stupid management" sense either. That info can't be correct.

Insurance companies just don't suspend coverage for 2 weeks and refund the pro-rate to the employer. They know that there would be a spike in claims on the first day the coverage begins again (and its kinda hard to prove if you got that expensive terminal illness while you were out on your HTL).

Also, why would the company insist on canceling flight benefits for the HTLs and not the full month TOWOPs. OK... that one is one of those "stupid management" possibilities.

actually if i remember correctly the company DID suspend pass riding and jump seat privileges for the TOWOP people when we first started it up a while back like last year. Obviously it was a grievance of sorts that got this taken care of. My point is only that if it might save the company a dime they might try it. Save a dollar by spending a thousand......

part of the hang up was the company wanted to cancel medical coverage the other sticking point was vacation and sick accrual.

I expect something tomorrow afternoon, Though it could post next week. But I'd say furloughs are inevitable.

I would also say furloughs are inevitable but I don't think we will see a notice posted tomorrow or anytime in the next month but who knows. According to our contract a voluntary furlough will be offered first before they can just toss guys on the street. The union email made it seem like they pretty much had the signature from the company on HTL and they were moving forward with Extended TOWOP. It seemed very promising that both HTL and ETOWOP would be bid options for the month of July. I think the union would like to see how many people actually take advantage of these new options and I HOPE the company wants to do the same. Once you start hearing of the instructors being called back to the schoolhouse the furlough notices won't be far behind.

Optimistic note.... it seems like the Delta planning department changes their mind whenever someone passes gas. So we can all hope that something changes between now and the end of summer or hope Taco Bell is the restaurant of choice for delta planning!!!

What strikes me as odd is the voluntary furlough notices haven't come out yet. There must be a reason why they would be holding this up, especially since we are overstaffed with our current fleet and know 10 planes are leaving.
