Its only been 48 hours since the announcement.

Yes, but we have been overstaffed for months.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the Saabs aren't going anywhere until September, and slowly even then? Or possibly management wants to see how many will/would take extended TOWOP or HTL if/when they come out. Or maybe they've got something else worked out with Delta that would create a need for more pilots that they're keeping under wraps.

Who knows...

I just know that I picked up my application to become an international male model. Although it states that I'm not qualified...

I think I'll hit up a non-aviation job if I get furloughed....don't really want to go back to a job where I can't plan ahead on how much I'm gonna make (instructing). Like someone else said, the positive of it is I'll probably be making more anyway.

Considering a newspaper reporter knew about the Saabs going before our Director of Ops, also he had less than a month's notice about the Comair spares from notice to being in service.... I'm guessing Mesaba management knows nothing that Delta has under wraps.

Also I figured to see some sort of revised TOWOP today. Possibly a voluntary furlough notice within the next 10 days or so. As for the final involuntary furlough reduction notice, that probably is at least a month out still.

So I applied to a job in Rochester, NY as a peace officer. Will make decent money and good benfits. I just hope the pass privliges can stay around for a bit cause I have my exam on 11/14/09.

well usually you get 90 days free travel (through the pass dept) to look for other work after a furlough. I'd guess if you are under seniority 1000 you probably will be able to get there free. (No guarantees though)
