I think we are all just trying to laugh and think about other stuff rather than whether or not we are going to be on the street... Its a depressing time...

DH DTW-MEM-TUP-MSL
Overnight
Fly MSL-TUP-MEM
DH MEM-DTW
I've done a variation of that a couple of times.
Or:
DH DTW-CWA
Fly CWA-MSP
Scheduled 2-minute connection to make a DH back to DTW, didn't make it, had to wait a few more hours for the next flight... only to find out that the CA I was filling in for was DH'd to DTW to cover something... which is where I was to begin with.

Apparently, the MEM people don't like that highspeed, if they have to always DH people down.

I've done both ways, and it is a very nice hotel. Honestly, maybe the nicest hotel on the Saab. Too bad it's a highspeed hotel for the MEM folk. And I say that with true sincerity.

The only problem is having to pay for the internet there, or I guess you could always use the business center

Is it really a depressing time? Quit watching the television and take these boards with a grain of salt. With the history of XJ you may already be on the street. Given the amount of TOWOP , early outs and the company seriously considering 1/2 time lines, something has to be coming down the pipe that they aren't telling us. If something were not still up in the air they would have sent 'F' letters right after we lost the 10 -900's.
There is no reason to hold on to 100 or so pilots just to make mgmt feel good. We are expendable and there are hudreds of guys/gals waiting in the wings for jobs. They could have furloughed and then recalled and had a stack of resumes 8 ft tall to choose from if the Mothership decided to give us more planes/flying.
You folks should know this industry by now...
Until you get the letter, you still have a job.
Until you finally sit in the seat, you have new aircraft.
Until you see it in the bid packet/schedule, you have new flying.
Until it happens to you........Nothing has happened.
