Good luck to all of you and I hope things turn around in 2010.
I'm betting you would...why would a company pay for your training and then have u turn around and get recalled at XJ...

I would have to agree but it hasn't reached that stage yet. By the way I put out this info for XJ pilots who are furloughed or about to be furloughed, not for those of us who are senior enough to ride this out.

It is interesting though that Compass is hiring in this economy whilke Mesaba is furloughing. I wonder if Compass is gearing up for more flying in the future.

Compass is gearing up for more block hours next year, not more aircraft.

What sad is that DAL/NWA/Comair/Mesaba/Compass are the same company... and they are furloughing in one "department" and hiring in another. Comair and Mesaba pilots leaving there for Compass are resetting their seniority and pay.... management wins.

+1. A goodpoint. I want to see the mainline grow, not the other way around but it seems DAL is outsourcing more domestic flying in combination with 11 regionals flying for them with Alaska Airlines.
Truly pathetic part is that DAL management is only resetting the lowest paid members of the XJ. The top 200 pilots at XJ are not affected by this at all.

And most are lifers here til now age 65... I know several that are (if the medical holds out) now going to stay until 65.

The Comair MEC is sending the same email out to their furloughed pilots.

Great...

I wish to thank the union, the FAA, and those that benefited from being able to work the extra five years that no one else before them was able to do for delaying the career progression of everyone who is not 60 years old.

It's like changing term limits while in office so you can stay in office longer...

I know of two guys that went to compass, and both were told that they could keep their seniority # at XJ, hopefully that trend continues...

But that's if XJ does not call them back within a year and if XJ did, they'd have to pay the prorated $12k one year contract.

Why would anyone come back to Mesaba if you have a job at Compass? I know I wouldn't...
