You could travel home, but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you could drive there in a few hours.
They pay you while in training, and give you your own hotel room. I know 4 weeks sounds like a long time to be away but it really isn't, the time flies.

You'll head to CLT after you do 2 weeks of Indoc in ATW; at that point you'll have your ID so you can jumpseat. If you want to go home on a break from sim/FTD that's fine (the schedules are often more accommodating for that) but unless your distance is drivable in an emergency I wouldn't advise going during systems.
Since we're talking about it, where do newhires stay in CLT? Are they in the Amerisuites by the Starbucks/Wendy's/Sonic that folks doing PCs stay at?

mregan,
Interview was just as stated by others and on the gouge, much more HR oriented than technical. Two questions about current twin, nothing you shouldn't know if you know your airplane, and then the standard HR stuff. Just be yourself. Good luck.

I think the first 4 are ground, then you get a break until sim, at least 4 or 5 days, so you can go home then. Some guys had almost two weeks off. At least that was the way it was for us. They even positive spaced us to the nearest airport home and back again to sim (it was in Denver back then). Are they still doing that?

Yeah, btw adding to that question, what's in ORF? Anything? I've heard areas along the Virginia beach can be nice....
