No way AA will get rid of the WOs right now. They need 3 to whip saw against in the Chapter 11 reorganization. Also, i don't see some of the independent FFD carriers making it out alive.

No, no, no. This thread is only to talk about losing a WO or two and why American won’t survive the pandemic. No other plausible ideas please.

When getting pushed back the other day the tug driver was saying his sister's boyfriend's cousin Debbie slept with a retired NorthWest pilot who's daughter's second cousin Joe said that AA is going to close all three WO, buy a bunch of sailboats and pay for all the WO pilots to get their 25 ton Captain's license to haul passengers from NY to Cuba !

Gotta have at least two for whipsaw, but some would say three (much harder for three groups to unify, always likely that an opportunist will screw the others).

AS gets away with QX and OO, but only one of those is a WO.

They need not be a WO to be whippsawed.
they'll consolidate the WO’s under their recent press release of restructuring.....

Actually, the three wholly owneds might well survive the mainline if this sort of thing keeps up:

Now THAT is a depressed market value.

Doubt it. Who are they going to fly for? I guess they can try the aquafresh/indy-air business model with CRJ 200s...

Spinning them off for cash isn’t crazy. I’m sure private equity would pony up

That would have to be done post BK (or part and parcel of BK proceedings).

Nobody in their right mind would pay a penny for a regional airline right now unless they had long-term contracts... and ALL regional contracts are potentially up in the air right now. That's why Buffet dumped all of his airlines.
