Canned chicken has much more sodium than tuna
I usualy take the tuna packets and mix them with a mayo packet taken from a food court condiment station
If bread takes up too much room try tortila wraps
Always have almonds. Always have granola or protien bars.
I try to keep track of food options near hotels. I don't have a cooler, but by shopping along the way I'm able to do okay- eat the refridgerated stuff on day 1 and when you buy it along the way and save the dry goods for the dry spells
The free breakfast is the best thing out there- eat well in the morning and then- take a fruit item for the road. Take one of the little peanut butter and jettley thingys and a bagel or bread. Put the bread product in your icebucket bag so it doesn't go stale. Breakfast bars often also have the oatmeal packets which you can save for the overnights where no breakfast is provided. I don't usualy eat the yogurt because they seem to be partial to the high sugar stuff. Please though, don't go up to your room with an armload of food. Exercise good judgement and don't give us all a bad name. It is free food, but its not a free grocery store.

We have fresh donuts and bagels loaded on board for every trip. Nine times out of 10, the pax never even touch them. It's a bad combination having free donuts and coffee near a poor, hungry pilot.
I used to pack granola bars, protein shakes and turkey sandwiches in a soft-sided bag at my previous job. I think that, combined with the snack ideas from the previous posts would be a good route to help me bypass the donuts. Don't know about the peanut butter and banana sandwiches though.

They actually are very similar and as I see it the chicken wins the sodium battle there with about 50 less! I guess thats why were are pilots not doctors.

Had a CA bring along some Tuna to eat on a 4-day. Let me tell you that your co-worker is NOT going to be thrilled about you whipping out some Tuna and crackers everytime the hunger-pang strikes. The aroma tends to stick around for quite awhile.
Just something to think about - If you're in the Cabin during a sit at a station, that's one thing...but in our world, it is appreciated by all to show thoughtfulness to those who are stuck in a stuffy cockpit with you!!
But, if you've gotta eat, you've gotta eat...:-)
