Here's a few random ideas, I'd like to hear others:

The crew cooler from ebags.com pays for itself in the first trip. Just keep your stuff cool with a couple quart size freezer bags of ice - fill 'em at the hotel, in the galley.

Also, try blending up some frozen fruit as a smoothie (bananas, strawberries, raspberries, orange juice, etc.), freeze it the night before in ziplock bags. Pack 'em the day of the trip to help keep your food cold.

A pack of lunch meat, cheese, a few hard boiled eggs, protien and granola bars.

Make your own trail mix - buy pecans, cashews, some chocolate chips. A quart size bag will last a few trips.

Carrots, celery broccoli and some ranch dip.

Tuna kits and soup work great too.

Quaker instant oats for breakfast.

Don't forget that some hotels offer apples, bananas, oranges etc., so you can plan on getting some of that stuff on the road.

Make your own pasta salad the night before and put it into sandwich bags - pasta, shredded cheese, olives, peperonchini, italian salad dressing, chopped ham or salami - good eats on the road!

I usually get some deli meat and cheese and make like 4 wraps with some whole wheat tortillas. I also buy the small individual low fat ranch cups so i can dip it in. Another good snack is yogurt and buy some granola from Kashi and mix the two. Gives you added protein and fiber. Myoplex is good if you have a plastic shaker. Quaker makes the weight control oatmeal which i get cause it actually has protein in it and a lot more fiber. Like everyone else says ...almonds lot of almonds. Skippy all natural peanut butter is great and good for you and you can throw that on or in most things. And if you have no fridge at your overnight just fill up the sink with ice and throw your cold stuff on the ice and cover the sink with a damp towel. Hope this helps.

I take the premixed peanutbutter and jelly (make sure it doesn't have to be refrigerated) and a loaf of bread for sandwiches. Don't forget the bag of Bar-b-que Fritos. I also take several packets of instant oatmeal to mix with the hot water.

Make up some meals before you leave and freeze them. They act as icepacks for your non-frozen foods. Some good ideas are teriyaki chicken and rice, noodles, etc.

Does the TSA people ever try and stop you from taking food on? I assume you would be able to bring your own food since you are crew but just kinda wondering on that one.

Best portable meals are the cambells Minnestrone (probably didnt spell that right) microwavable soups. Get some crackers and its heaven.

TSA is cool to us about the food. They let it go, just like the toiletries.

As long as you're in uniform. Otherwise it's probably gonna end up in the garbage. Your company ID ain't enough by itself. But if you're in uniform they will let you through with food and beverages.
