You're not wrong. Especially if you WANT to pick up as much flying as you can. If this is what you want find a regional with very good soft pay rules and you'll make serious money (for a regional).
If I wasn't coming off of furlough at the beginning of this year I would have cleared 100k as a 2nd year FO.... easily.

OH
CRJ 700/900
June 7th Start Date (no bonus, that started in the July classes)
W-2 = $39500
5% Roth IRA
122 Block
11 Days off a month (Reserve)
Live in base for now
I actually did a lot better than I thought. I accumulated a lot of Per Diem over 7 months as I didn’t relocate until middle of December. So I had rolling 24/7 Per diem for almost 5.5 months straight. I was also able to fly almost every single Red Flag Day (holiday pay) we had the last two months. Also, for this month I was used almost every day I was on call and I am about to break Min guarantee without the OT I picked up. Will equate to over $6k for the month of January; however, I only had 7 days off this month and I am shot. There’s money to be had but you have to work for it…

Thanks, although neither of those have a DFW base. Also a pilot in my guard unit who flies for Republic told me on a recent deployment that he makes between 3-5k a month as a FO. But then again, he might not be working much since he seems to always pick up orders.

No regional currently will get you close to 100k JUST on mon guarantee alone. The question was, who has the soft pay and pay rate capable of making it happen!
Its not entirely unlikely to end up crediting 140-150 a month in the peak summer/holiday months at yx. And then 100-110 the rest of the year (but yes, you’ll be hustling). 130 hours on avg per month, plus per diem will get you just south of that figure at year 2/3 pay.
and yes unfortunately not too many options with dfw. Maybe skywest?

while in training in Dayton for Ground, CLT for Sims and then IOE I was getting 24/7 per diem. Once you had your relocation days you no longer got it; however, in between ground and sims when you go back home, which is considered your base during training, you don’t get per diem. So in training you’re away from home (base) you get per diem. After IOE I went 2 months before relocating so that was 24/7 as well. Does that makes sense at all all?

YX FO/CA
Mostly year 3 ($53.06) and year 4 ($54.12) pay, with a little over a month at year 4 CA ($97.19)
$65,174 gross
671 hours block (2 months not flying while in upgrade)
$6,753 per Diem on top of gross
Normal crappy regional 401k
Was living in base until upgrade. Will be back to no commuting sometime this year. 2 months in there are min guarantee during upgrade training. Summer was busy, averaging 12 days off and about 105-110 hours of credit. Otherwise I was doing 85ish hours of credit and 15-17 days off.
