You're not wrong. Especially if you WANT to pick up as much flying as you can. If this is what you want find a regional with very good soft pay rules and you'll make serious money (for a regional).
If I wasn't coming off of furlough at the beginning of this year I would have cleared 100k as a 2nd year FO.... easily.

Just curious,
The highest 2nd yr pay rate at a regional I could find was 62 @ Endeavor . Even there, you have to do roughly 130 hours in credit every month to get close to 100k . That would need some pretty good soft pay/work rules to make that happen . Especially at a regional . Was just wondering which regional you are at that allows you to break 100k “easily” .

For someone senior enough to bid LCAs, get bought off every trip, and then pick up premium pay at 150%+, it's not hard. That person would work less to get paid a lot more.
For someone too junior for that yet senior enough to bid longer stretches off, it's harder, but doable. They work a lot more to get paid more.
For someone at a short-staffed regional, they just get junior manned a lot. They get paid more to get screwed out of their days off, but it's not hard to say yes when no isn't really an option.

Could have been done at yx if someone really worked it this year.
Block of 87 is paid at 125 percent
Practically the whole summer was at 200 percent
vacation buy back at a few thousand per week, don’t have remember the rate, since I didn’t participate :/
but essentially with all of that added up, if someone really played the game, they could have touched 100k at year 2, adding per diem and the 3k bonus. Straight pay might be tough.

Can't speak for iceman, but at regionals with good soft rules, that can be done.

But it’s good to know that it’s possible and can be done at that level.

I came off of furlough and had to requal, made it back to the line in April. Took it as easy as I could November and December.

I'm at ZW. Summer months my lowest month was 140 credit 87 block. We signed an LOA this year giving 300% on a day of our choice when getting junior manned. Turned several 9 hour credit days into 27 hours.

Fair enough , I’m not far removed from the regionals . Only 3 years . Closest I ever came to 100k, was 80k in the left seat @ regional with definitely not good work rules . I also never tried to play the game, or pick up anything extra. I still don’t .
But it’s good to know that it’s possible and can be done at that level.

Enjoyed reading this thread on the major side. This could have been a really good thread for soon-to-be regional pilots but it seems to have gotten thrown off the tracks early. Maturity is a sacred thing and goes a long way. Here’s my stats…
MQ
E75
Year 2 FO
Furloughed January - May (thank you CARES Act)
Training June - August
W2 - $50.9k
230 actual hours flown
Averaged 9-10 days off per month after training
Time split between reserve and line
In base
I think there is some new hire bonus money thrown in the W2. Company changed pay providers a couple of months ago so it’s difficult to figure out block, per diem, retirement, etc without spending a couple days hunting the depths of the internet.
I hope everyone has a lot better year. Good luck to all the new guys joining the regionals.
