Do tell us OH GREAT one who KNOWS ALL.... how would should an airline be run, if not to have its crews on the road flying, staying in hotels, etc. et al. I am curious as to what you thought the life of an airline pilot was going to be? You have extolled on numerous ocasions on how being away from home etc was a drag, and that being home was or is important to you.. GREAT.. I personally think we are all better of we you NOT in any cockpit.

It seems to me you watched one to many movies or read to many books about flying and what you thought it was suppose to be about.

Life is about choices, you obviously made the wrong one when you got into the flying business.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that I hope you are happy doing whatever it is that you are doing. Personally I think you loathe the fact that you are not in aviation and the only way you can live with that decision is to come here and denegrate those who have chosen for whatever reasons to be in the aviation business. As the old saying goes ...."me thinks you doth protest too much".
I am no dummy. I expected to sacrifice. I spent most of two decades putting my life on the line and going without just to be in the seat. I also knew that there would be long days. I was prepared for all the hardships.

The conflict comes when I also expected to be respected by my employers, adequately compensated for my troubles and to gain improved conditions over time instead of watching them worsen.

Airline life is rife with daily risk and is a difficult life and I eventually expected to be well compensated for those efforts. Currently Pilots can expect to earn half of what they made 20 years ago, work more and have to deal with an increasingly restrictive work place. The future is not going to be any better either.

To anyone who cares to look at the facts an aviation career it is not an equitable choice to make anymore and the future will be worse.

I am glad that you obviously are comfortable with it though.

LOL! I'd like to see you in the hospital working like a dog every minute with the patients on an assembly line! But, hey, you'd be making 85K!

Ha ha. Multiply that by 100 for nurses. If you think pilots work hard, you would last one hour as a nurse. Sky, you are just cracking me up this morning!

I have never been a nurse. I am sure that it is a difficult profession however some people seem to like it, the job is in high demand and the wages are extremely good when compared to the efforts a pilot must make.

Most of us are not cut out to be in the medical profession but others are.

Proctologists, plumbers, and accountants all have difficult jobs and that is one of the reasons why they make more than pilots. Aviation is more glamorous and appeals to people with relaxed work ethics and that is why the profession is doomed to sink to the lowest levels of respect and compensation. There is a connection I am glad that you have found it.

The job's in high demand because NOONE WANTS TO BE IN IT BECAUSE IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it's difficult! It's not worth 100K a year, let alone anything less. You work like a dog, they get mad at you for taking a lunch break, the management doesn't give a crap about their employees, they definitely don't give a crap about patients, you're drowning in work with no help and your management is making decisions about relief from their house and a pager, etc. I can go on and on.

Oh yeah, if you are looking for respect, don't be a nurse either cuz you don't get any.

As I said I wouldn't want to be a nurse but the facts are easy to find.

Nurses start out at a much higher wage. Nurses are in high demand. Wages are on the increase.

You obviously didn't like it and I can definitely understand that. (I was a county firefighter and I did not like all the blood and guts.) Lucky for you in 20 years when they are making far more than even a major airline captain you could always return to nursing.

Sounds identical to the job description of a regional airline pilot expept for the pay and benifits. And that is my point, both jobs stink but only one gets paid for dealing with it.

Did you take another hit of acid today?
Don't worry, once they have enough nurses, the wages will decrease there too. You think the hospital is paying mediocre money now because they love nurses? They pay because the HAVE TO otherwise there will be literally noone to work. I have worked shifts where they have had 2 nurses on the schedule for an entire Emergency Room with 20+ beds.

LOL!
You really do crack me up!
