we have eliminated massive amounts of overhead in the GO and elsewhere. New John has stated in meetings(according to the chief pilot update in ground schoo) that we are getting very close to DCI average per block hour.
I will translate- simply put, that means you or I will go to try and get hired by the airline that may put out an RFP for their loss of Mesa flying.
Whether its' Express Jet, AWAC, or others. I have seen heard read the memo about even if Delta prevails, Comair won't see any more flying. I "get" it and I'm sure that won't stop you from putting in an App and interviewing with those airlines. Now do you see what I was getting at? Clear as mud?
Take a look at our pilot seniority list and/or the FA list. Hundreds of pilots and flight attendants were hired before I was even born.... Add that to the fact that they are topped out on the pay scale and you have the recipe for a top heavy, expensive labor cost. Most of the cost issues in the GO and other areas have been solved with downsizing the support operation to our current fleet size... but if you compare us with other airlines like Mesaba, Mesa, Chautauqua, etc, our pilot group is on average much older on the seniority scale directly impacting our cost. Until these guys leave for other jobs or retire, it will continue to be that way.

Just wondering how it has worked out for the guys that were based at JFK but live in other states and filing with NY for unemployment benefits. I have to file with either NY or IL but NY has a higher weekly payout. Looking for any pitfalls when talking with them.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I agree. It would be better to go out fighting and having caring employees like ACA/FlyI than wasting away in the Delta cancer ward.
By the way, when the opinion does come out (probably affirming the Mesa injunction), it will be posted on the Eleventh Circuit Court - Atlanta website.
