Comair updates?
The appeal is limited to the issue of whether the trial judge should have issued a temporary injunction preventing Delta from canceling the contract. A ruling for Mesa would only keep the injunction in place. Delta could still ultimately prevail in a trial.
If Delta wins, they have the option to cancel the contract.
Delta has several factors that could help them. In a civil case it takes extraordinary facts to justify an injunction on a commercial matter. I
Also, the trial judge considered a lot of oral and email evidence to conclude the contract was modified, and therefor the injunction should be issued - the law hates non-written evidence on contracts (know as the parole evidence rule). This is another weak part of Mesa's case which may impact the court's decision.

two things we can hope for.
These 3 judges think the last one was an idiot.
These 3 judges see through JO and see that the e-mails in question that helped win the original injunction, were "stolen" and "lost" from two different laptops at mesa. Amazing coincident.

While we may not get new A/C, at least United and the others can cancel thier contracts with Delta, issue a new RFP and from what I understand United wants Comair to pick up thier lift. If not, somebody will most likely be hiring and then away we go.

That United flying for Comair has the same chance of happening as Hugh Heffner winning a 5K race. It was just a story created by Selvaggio and others trying to raise morale and have something to get the employees to work harder for while giving them less in return.
What makes us so "expensive"?.
In comparison to some other wholly owend -PSA- and other independents -Air Midwest-, who happened to operate strictly the 200 and whose pay is not much different from Comair's -not by much-. They also have been around for quite a while, hence their percentage of lifers compares to Comair's, they have the same type of contract we do -pay for departure-, what makes us so expensive?.
One thing we have most other people don't is the "third" party ground handler sudsidiary, which brings a lot of revenue.
So again, somebody enlighten me and tell -by comparison-, why are we so expensive?.

Let me ask this general question.

Take a look at our pilot seniority list and/or the FA list. Hundreds of pilots and flight attendants were hired before I was even born.... Add that to the fact that they are topped out on the pay scale and you have the recipe for a top heavy, expensive labor cost. Most of the cost issues in the GO and other areas have been solved with downsizing the support operation to our current fleet size... but if you compare us with other airlines like Mesaba, Mesa, Chautauqua, etc, our pilot group is on average much older on the seniority scale directly impacting our cost. Until these guys leave for other jobs or retire, it will continue to be that way.
The guys at other carriers like PSA, etc... are generally younger (I think) because the more senior guys are not committing to 'lifer' status there and moving on to majors, fracs, etc... But I could be wrong, maybe this is just a sneaky management tactic to ruffle things up..... OH has made a lot of cuts recently, so we should be in a position to be competitive with other carriers.
I'd like to hear from one of the guys who believes we are still "too expensive". I'd like to read their reasoning.
