"As part of our Focus 2009 plan, I've talked extensively about our need to be cost-competitive. This move by Delta certainly supports those efforts to re-align our cost structure by putting us more on par with our competitors who do not have Customer Services as part of their infrastructure. It also enables us to focus solely on our core business of flying airplanes -- making sure we are the best airline."
That's odd, because two years ago Unca Don thought the best way for Comair to survive was to shrink the fleet and grow the ground handling side of the business - that's where he saw the easy money.

Go figger...

There were 5700 employees at comair and 3100 of them just got spun off into another company. the remaining 2600 would include unionized workgroups.
As I read it, the 2600 will be spun off from Comair and become RHS.

3100 will remain, including the unionized groups.

Some good news on my behalf, I have been substitute teaching here in FL and just landed a full time sub position for a teacher who will be out for the remainder of the school year. Pays $26 an hour 35 hours a week!! I am stoked about it!!! At this point I am happier than I have been in a while. My commute home is positive space and is a 15 minute ride in the captain's seat.

I live in Florida as well, and was thinking about doing some subbing.... How would I go about that?

It varies county by county. I live in Seminole County so I could tell you that procedure but otherwise I would recommend going to your county school board or visit their website and look up info on becoming a substitute teacher. It's pretty fun. I am actually considering a career as a full-time teacher. I would have to meet some further certification requirements but I just may be willing to do it if it means some sort of career in which I can possibly support my kids. I'm bout fed up with chasing this dream around.
