I've already been on a perpetual ready reserve in JFK. Oddly enough I think Nigeria is better. My hotel room is much nicer than the crew room at JFK.

Why would he relax if Comair is taking most of the cuts in the DCI network? Are you and most of your fellow pilots losing your jobs? If not; then you are not feeling the pain.
