I can only speak for my situation. How it worked was first there was a company meeting, where the president said there will be furloughs probably by so and so month. Then the rumors started coming out. "Well I heard from Jon, who is the presidents cousins husbands sister in laws friend, that there will be 100 furloughs." At this point there is no way to know if you will be impacted or not, so you just keep on bidding as if nothing is happening. Then you get the official, you will be furloughed call. At that point you know when your last day is. For me, I still bid for the entire month of November even though I knew I was going to be furloughed. Just in case Comair said never mind, we still need you. I wouldn't get stuck with the 3am readies for that entire month

I replied without even thinking, "I would rather be furloughed from there then stuck at this dump for the rest of my life!" There were 2 other Ass. CP's and SB was in there too. All 4 of there jaws dropped and I turned my back and walked out. FWIW, my last 14 days were all on RSV, and I flew 59.4 hours in two six day runs. My last day I was at 29.4 hrs, they gave me a ready rsv. I went in robbed every aircraft of blankets and water. Called screw sked, they wouldn't let me leave early, so I just told them its my last day I am good for 36 mins. I am going home and hung up the phone was escorted out, with no words of good luck or thanks for 10 yrs of service. Best day of my life. So, it doesn't suck to be a DL pilot or even a CMP guy. Those guys with be on our list at some point.
Great read. Comair really does suck. It sucked from day one to my last day. It just does.

Eleven more to go. Probably get there today, possibly within the hour.

I was furloughed on Nov 5 also, and I still bid for Nov just so I wouldn't end up with a crap schedule for the last few days at Comair. Well, no surprise it still sucked but no 5am readies at least.

Those take into account the ones that were erased be MODs for whatever tickled their fancy at the time. So technically, this thread has passed 15k postings.

Certifited letters have been sent to those who volunteered to be furloughed - furlough date to be September 1st. I have no information for the voluntary furloughs.

In any event, it can't hurt to bid as if one wasn't getting furloughed. If you want to work, bid days off at the end of the month. If you don't, bid them off at the beginning. That way if you're furloughed mid month you're more likely to get what you want.

I assume you mean "no information for IN-voluntary furloughs"?

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of people on reserve in September.

Thanks for the correction. I must have been distracted with something.
