If for some bizarre reason both bases are available (for my seniority level) I want to ensure I get DTW from the get go. Additionally, I don't want to be responsible for housing while in retaining and not get per diem because I'm 'home-based'.
You will get recalled to either JFK or DTW depending upon your "retraining" date. You will get paid for per diem and hotel. Standing bids will not matter until you are on property.

For those who missed the conference call, here is a summary...
  • Increase of flying due to Freedom Air’s departure as a DCI Carrier.
  • Looking for 72 pilots, but they will accept all who want to come back.
  • Possibility of a 2nd round of recalls if not enough pilots come back.
  • The date you circle on recall letter is the date they expect you to be in CVG!
  • Drug & Alcohol test must be completed PRIOR to setting foot on Comair property.
  • Guarantee, Hotel and per diem paid while in training in CVG.
  • Looking at roughly 4 weeks of training (2 weeks ground, Sims, OE, etc.)
  • JFK - > DTW shift will happen in one setting on Sept. 1.
  • Vacancy bid for CVG to be published ~June 14th.

I understood it just the opposite. Recalls won't be in the vacancy bid, but they will be in the displacement bid. Your standing bid will be accepted, but if you want to change it, email Ryan

No, they hadn't received any replies as of today, other than 1 voluntary bypass. (mail probably hasn't even been delivered yet)

They speak about being current. Do we need a BFR, IPC etc before we step on property?

Not sure about IPC, but I think BFR is exempted with your MV/LOE. I don't think any instructor would have a problem signing off an IPC at the end of training though.

I always understood that you have to report physically fit to fly, (medical, drug test, etc.) It shouldn't matter if you flew during furlough, sold cars or shovelled s@#t! It's Comair's problem to train you to currency...so don't spend a dime of your money if you don't have to!
