The fact that they are letting all the early outs go on Jan 2 and not staggering them out would signal to me that there is less flying to cover. Possibly another post-holiday decrease in flying along with parking more airframes = less headcount needed.

Don't forget that Comair is the incredible shrinking airline.

What flying? Think of how much Comair just reduced its expenses......91 pilots, half the airplanes......man if they could get rid of the other half of the planes they would be set.

GENERIC RUMOR TEMPLATE

We are (saved/screwed) guys... I just heard from (management personel/CP/sim instructor) that we're (hiring/upgrading/downgrading/furloughing) 200 pilots in the next (time frame)! I knew the airline was doing (well/poorly) but this is completely unexpected. What do you guys think about this new (opportunity/clusterf%$k)?

If you believe this to be "unexpected", you really haven't been paying attention. Why do you think they just offered early retirements again in August. You do realize that there will only be 520-540 pilots left by 4th quarter 2012...unless there is a company or asset sale prior to then.
