This may be a stupid question, but im about to start reserve. How do I know if I am on ready reserve or if I can stay at home? I dont think anyone has explained that to me, and if they did it was probably at the end of one of the many slide shows.
Im also trying to put a standing bid in for reserve windows. They told us just to put a // then what you want like //A1 A2 But that doesnt seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Ready reserves generally show up as an 8500 series trip number(8501 8509 8510)...also they show to flights that are each 1 minute long. Here is what it would look like
Date Flight Depart Arrive Eq Blk Grnd Blk Duty Cred
NO CREDIT FOUND FOR FLIGHT 9574
10MAR 9574 CVG 1700 CVG 1701 CRJ* 1 318 ( 1
NO CREDIT FOUND FOR FLIGHT 9575
10MAR 9575 CVG 2019 CVG 2020 CRJ* 1 0 ( 2
Rpt 1600 Rls 2040 2 440 2
Minimum Rest 900 S
TAFB 440 Rest 1000 Total 2 440 2
You can't do a standing bid for reserve windows, as they are not part of the intial bid award process. You bid for reserve windows after the assignment of the bid awards...so essentially on reserve you will bid twice. The bid packet will tell you when to bid for reserve windows.

Sup with this? From our MEC:
Usually I think these are pretty accurate, but I'm not sure if I'm getting one side of the story. Like the guy that got terminated for calling in sick for his own wedding. But he was also on the "list" for abusing sick calls before. BTW, do probationary pilots get union protection, or is it pretty much, your outa here for something like the above statement? (4 for days till my anniversary!)

It is true, this person was fired for calling in fatigued. As far as I know they had a clean record with the company so it is not like they were trying to find a reason to get rid of them. My guess is they were trying to make an example out of them so people would fear calling in fatigued. The good thing is that on paper they were not officially terminated until after their anniversary date so the union is trying to help them out. It is pretty messed up. In December-January i had a stretch of 27 days and I worked 24. Example, 6 on 1 off, 6 on 1 off, 6 on 1 off, 6 on. How can you give someone a schedule like that and expect them to not be tired at all? Something has got to give.
