It's possible, they just put you through initial in the 50 and then you go right into differences training for the 70. There were a few in my initial class that did it.

I agree, we can't be doing all of this hiring from attrition alone. Though, I still wouldn't call this growth, it is at least good news. Pretty sad though that the company can't even be straight forward with us with good news. Spill the beans already!

There is no way to upgrade to 70 capt. One guy in my differences class was a 70 f/o that had to upgrade to 50 capt, then immediately go into differences back to the 70.

But, on the other hand, the more below me in seniority, the better! Bring on the 'Newbs!
No, I think it is possible. A new hire would first complete the 50 training then do differences. It just hasn't happened for a long time.

Question..

Can we jumpseat on Virgin America? Airline Pilot Central says they're a CASS participant, but I don't see them on our reciprical jumpseat list. That jumpseat list is dated 8/20/07 and I'm not sure if Virgin America was even around then.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying. Sorry, I guess I didn't speak clearly. It just extends your training by about a month, and for a new hire could be a bit of a pain as a lot of the stuff you've just learned (memory items, limitations, systems) has to be forgotten and comepletely relearned.

I've been saying this since I started. Maybe THIS is the new base everyone in the training dept. is "hinting" about. It would make sense, CA has trouble staffing it if something cancels, and the 70 routes are the last thing you want to start missing performance numbers on.

I think there are some Comair folk who non rev on em. I'm not sure about jumpseating though. But since I don't think we have nonrev agreements with VAmerica, it's probably a "list for J/S, get available seat thing"...which one could conclude that we can.

Roundabout way of saying probably!

You can jumpseat on them. My sim partner in training has done this several times.

Yeah, he told me that. I thought he was full of poop when he told me that. Good for him. BTW, they put me on ready reserve when I got into CVG @ 28 hrs.

Also, I heard that we are hiring for "expected" growth, no other/more flying has been guaranteed for us, yet!
