Lots of complaining about reserve going on here. Go complain to the captains that have spent 4 plus years on reserve about the 5 months you have sat reserve...I'm sure they will have sympathy for you.

Yeah reserve sucks, but we all knew that when we signed up for this job. I feel bad for the CAs that have been here for so long that are still on reserve or are going back on reserve, and I feel bad for the F/Os that have been here for 5+ years still waiting to upgrade. We all like to complain, that's what we do as pilots. Makes us feel better

To be honest it might have been given to ds lineholder called in sick or reassigned to do something different. I really wish you all could see your list alls (its a recorded listing of all activity for a crew remembers) that way u can see what goes on in certain crew members day to day life.

I am about to start training with Comair. Can anyone give me advice on what to study before the classes start? I am out of town and cant check my mail to see what they have sent me. Also can you tell me what to expect during training?

Expect the unexpected...Haha...naw j/k. Just like anybody's first initial training event, Get ready to be completely and hopelessly unprepared for what they throw at you. No matter how prepared you are, it won't help!! Just go in with an open brain. Good luck!

Anything you would have done different to help you prepare?

Yes... if they still tell you to buy Aviation Weather and the FAR/AIM... don't. You won't touch them or need them.

Translation: Some FO's on reserve credit over 80 hours/month because they get "tagged" on an inbound leg for more flying instead of pulling someone out from home. Makes some FO's happy (making money), some FO's upset (thought they were going home... are not) and even more FO's very unhappy (Sit at home, or worse.. a crashpad in Queens and don't fly).
