Hopefully a reprieve for many.
I'm don't understand why Comair even has a planning department. Is that where new hires start before they're promoted to working on the ramp?
The next round of cost saving measures should be directed squarely at the elimination of that department...
and all those in the G.O. who left the lights on last night....shameful.

RE: Update on Displacement Bid and Furloughs
Due to the ongoing volatility of the fall flight schedule, we are postponing the Pilot
Displacement Bid 2008-05. The bid that closed on July 28th will be cancelled and another bid
will be released in the future. We will also update the number of pilot furloughs next week.
The change in our block hours from September through the end of the year is another example of
the fluid environment we’re in. We must prepare ourselves the best we can for these schedule
fluctuations to continue, especially since Comair’s ability to adapt to these adjustments is
incredibly valuable in our partnership with Delta.
We recognize the importance of open communication, especially when changes affect the lives
of our crewmembers. Additional information will be shared as soon as the details are finalized.

They sure buried it on the page didn't they?
Lets not get our hopes to high...I hope the rescind the whole thing, we need to keep the 291 pilots to keep the average age of this pilot group down.

Anyone got any good rumors on why they CNX the displacement bid.
I heard that Delta has been in talks with Mesa to just pay them off to go away. Maybe an agreement was finally reached.
I guess it could be for further cuts? Although this will set the process back a couple weeks because a new bid has to open and then close a week later. If it was further cuts I would have expected just an additional displacement bid.
All you "we got flying from United" guys could finally be correct.

One thing is for sure, Comair is really good at vacancy bids and awards and then canceling them a few days later. Seems to me that Comair doesn't even know the f#ck is going on. I still believe that this whole furlough thing is a scare tactic by management. How the hell can you run a company like this? And yes, I bet I can do a better job than those ass clowns. This company is getting more ridiculous every day. It's nothing but a circus.

Seems that for Sept for 70/90, we lost a few interesting routes. NAS is gone. CUN is gone. BDL pt.-to-pt. flights are gone.
I do see some MSY overnights though. The glamourous IND high speed is back. Didn't see too many 30+ hour layovers. Just a couple RIC & PHL
Oh yeah, and I had this really HOT 70 f/o follow me all the way back from DFW today!

Everyone temper your enthusiasm, If there is one thing this place is good at doing it is disappointing the pilots.
It could be something as simple as they reach a voluntary/part-time/earlyout arrangement. (though the memo did specifically say this was due to Delta)...heck for all we know they need more cuts.
I'll believe it when I see it, and I for one am sick of being an FO, so I hope the rumors are true. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
