Or you could just answer his question. Maybe he's not on this damn website every other hour like the rest of us and hasn't read what was said 200 pages ago.

Can anyone tell me if it's true that we cannot use the 'Turbulence' button in RVSM airspace? I called BS on my CA and used it anyway. Where is this suppose to say that? Something about it wont hold altitude?!

Never heard of it, wouldn't be the first time a pilot made something up on his own. Not that I ever use that button anyway.

You just have to be cautious about using the TURB mode because you may overshoot your altitude with this mode engaged. This captain of yours may have been a bit overly cautious, but there is no limitation restricting its use in RVSM airspace.

The autopilot is not aggressive enough during leveloffs and you can lose separation if it's choppy. Realistically though, it's not like the 100/200 is going to be climbing so fast that a level off will shoot through your altitude. Maybe in the 700/900, I'm not sure. You only have 150' to play with on either side of your assigned altitude in RVSM.

Look under Ops manual page 5-57. It isn't prohibited, but it says "Extreme care must be exercised if using this mode."
