And then they wonder why it will subsequently cancel because of lack of participation and interest.

Roughly two thirds of the Mesaba pilots (and 80% of Compass pilots?) have been hired in the last 1.5 years. If we go relative seniority, a 5-year Comair FO (hired 2003) would be right seat next to a 2007-hire Mesaba or Compass Captain. Fair is fair, right?

I think we (and Mesaba's top 400) should get some kind of credit for "time served" during the buttrapes both pilot groups took in 2006/2007.

Then again, I'm sure the 600-hour kid who hired at Mesaba last July (and will upgrade this year) would consider it fair to push one of Comair's 12-year Captains back onto reserve.

I agree, look at USAir and AW, that definition of "fair" isn't fair to anyone. DOH is the closest you're going to get to "fair" (and it's kind of what it would be like with a national seniority list). With the proper fences, it could work.

I'm just playing devil's advocate and arguing what they would argue so please don't take this as what I think.

Is it fair to that captain at Mesaba that may be junior to a Comair FO in terms of DOH to be bumped out of his/her seat because he chose to go to Mesaba as opposed to Comair? That Comair FO could have went to Mesaba and been in that captain seat just as easy if it was all about getting an upgrade. In their eyes (and the eyes of an arbitrator, just as in the USAir/America West case) it comes down to career expectations. Could an FO at Comair reasonably expect to upgrade in 3 years? That answer is obviously no. Could an FO at Mesaba expect to upgrade in 3 years. That answer is easily yes.

I think any regional pilot who finds his airline "wholly-pwned" by Delta should expect their career to come to a screeching halt.

The Judge rendering his verdict:
"Son, you work for Delta now. Sorry, but you really are fu(ked."

"aww crud, on APC it said I would upgrade in a year..."

The lists will probably never merge. Look at US AWA. DL doesn't want the same exact thing.

Plus with one regional you'd have management by the balls during negotiations. Which is why DCI is like it is today.
