The info on www.aviationinterviews.com is spot on and current. The interview is a very non-confrontational affair with really nice, professional folks.

All 26 written questions are available at that site, and they want to see that you made the effort to prepare. The panel interview is as advertised, and the sim profile is exactly as described. People say the sim is very sensitive, but didnt seem that bad (but I've got a bunch of Jetstream time, so sensitive becomes a relative term).

As for the questions:

QOL-no idea, just interviewed. This and "the other" forum indicate that QOL is not too great unless you live in base. Even then it is still nothing to write home about.

Training-4 weeks Ground in DAY, 3 weeks sim in CLT. All at full guarantee plus per diem. Training department is supposed to be very good.

Washout Rate-In the interview we were told something like 17% over the past few years.

New Hire Times-My interview group ranged from 300/20 on up.

Reserve-Depends on base-currently pretty long in CLT (1 yr+) to short in DAY (few months) from what we were told. Living in base is a big thing for me, and a big factor in my interest in PSA.

Upgrade-Again, currently pretty long, like almost 3 years. However the furloughed Mainline guys are returning by March. They "unofficially" told us 2 or less. I took this with the standard airline-issue grain of salt.

Like anywhere, it's a crapshoot; but IF (a big, huge, dayglo IF with flashing lights all over it) the rumored flowthrough agreement is actually in place now and the rumored CRJ900/1000 order happens (along with a proper rate!) then it may actually end up being a good time to get on at PSA.

Bear in mind that the above is based solely on the observations of an outside observer and recent interviewee. The view from the inside may vary.

Good Luck.

Read my post on the thread titled "PSA New Hires". It should give you a good idea on how PSA is. I am a PSA employee, so trust my word. It's a great place to work. All these people that whine and complain about how bad things are all the time are just generally miserable people. Most of them don't even work for PSA anymore. Everyone that I know well at PSA loves it there.

Sorry about that!

Anyway, if you go back about a year on there you will find everything you need to make it through.

Good Luck!

I interviewed in August and have an Oct class date. The gouge was spot on and I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said.

1. Arrive early and get to know the group you are interviewing with. Everyone has some tidbit that was helpful such as inside info, interview strategy, a copy of the Jepp plate you somehow left on the printer at home. Your goal is to see some of them again in class.

2. Do your research about the company, ask questions during the morning meet and great, show you are sincerely interested in PSA.

3. Theres no reason to fail the written test. 90% you should already know, the rest is readily availible online. Don't blow that off, we had guys fail and go home.

4. Sim was MD-80. Basic profile but its a "jet" so its moving 3x as fast as your 172 set up. Think ahead as it will take a few moments for the sim to spool down and start to even consider getting slow.

5. Relax. Think before you answer the panels questions. Be professional but not uptight.

As an aside, remember that for every pilot on a msg board complaining there are another 50 who are enjoying their job and making it work.

I interviewed in August and an acquaintance interviewed last Wednesday. We were both hired and have October class dates. Everything you read here is right on. No changes.

Everyone is worried about the sim and how sensitive it is. Focus more on your scan. The PCAT isn't that bad and can be trimmed out to fly pretty easitly. The profile in the gouges does not appear to have changed.

Despite what your friends at Skywest and RAH may tell you, 3 years is not a long time to upgrade to a 53,000 pound jet...especially if somebody is hired into an RJ with 500-600 hours total time. There is a LOT of experience, knowledge and professionalism to be gained in that time.

This site is right on. Wish I had that before my interview. Would have saved some time.
