I'm sorry if I implied that XJ is a junior airline, but what I said wasn't completely inaccurate. Potatoes potatoes. My statement about why I wouldn't necessarily want to go to Mesaba to be a captain was for valid reasons, and my reasons are not inaccurate. I could have gone into ALL the reasons, but the fact remains that if you got to XJ as a DE CA, you'll, at best, be at the bottom of the CA seniority list for a long, long time.

I didn't mean to imply that Mesaba is a low quality regional, far from it, especially when you consider how low the rest of the competition has sunk. If I was looking for a good airline to go to, I would most certainly consider Mesaba, but I would think twice before going there for the pure reason of immediate jet PIC. Not a big fan of reserve without end in sight, but that says nothing about QOL in general at Mesaba. And of course, I wouldn't suggest anything about the experience of Mesaba crews. Read my other posts and you'll find I'm very much of the thought that experience and hours do not necessarily go hand in hand, and that I have no problems with a 2000 hour CA flying with a 1000 hour FO.

Im confused as to why you think jet PIC is any different from Turbine PIC. Same engine, just we have a blade in front of it. No difference, just a different flavored kool aid.

Turbine is a longer word than jet. At three in the morning, my laziness and fatigue can definitely influence me to use a word that is four letters shorter. I used the word interchangeably, especially for a Saab, and you'll notice I used it in the context of getting it at XJ, so I was including Saabs in my example, saying that you could you get get "jet" PIC by going to XJ.

but I would think twice before going there for the pure reason of immediate jet PIC
I thought that I was implying that if you go to Mesaba, you'll at the very least get turbine PIC. Apparently, I was not clear.

Yes, aircraft utilization can vary wildly between airlines, equipment type, and geographic area.

SWA utilizes the heck out of their airplanes, so their pilots get all their bock in a few short days and then get a lot of days off. If you have a lot of crews on 30 hour overnights or long airport sits, somebody ELSE has to come in to actually work flights that day...

Pretty big difference between flying a jet and a turboprop. Have you flown both?

I wouldn't say the engines are the same. Most turboprop are centrifugal compressors, where jets are Axial. Pretty big difference, they just burn the same fuel.
