Well.....Pncl.......what else could you expect?............I'm glad that ALPA is willing to step up, but in this case I can see how Pncl would fix the problem:
Withdraw the bonuses for everybody and return to the normal compensation before bargaining with ALPA.....I know.......PNCL mentality. I don't know how long will it take for PNCL to realize that people won't work for them just because they have "cool" paint schemes in their airplanes. Those cheap bonuses are not a solution. They need to start paying western civilization wages. Inflation also is going to be a very big problem for pilots. Even if the new contract improves the pay a couple of bucks it won't compensate for inflation itself. So improvement on the pay.........it is gotta be a big jup if you even want to consider it an improvement.

if it were only that easy for them.. withdrawing the bonuses is to late. its like saying, well i will rob the bank,, and if i get in trouble i will just return the money, no harm no foul. nope, it wont be that easy. i am not sure what scott will be going for but it certainly wont be just for them to stop giving out bonuses. i am glad my union dues are hard at work

I agree with you. I was exagerating to make a point. It is not than easy, but if they need to fix something it's defenetly not going to lean towards the pilot's side. They'll find a way around. ALPA is doing its job, but it could take a while if PNCL is not willing to solve the problem outside court.

From what I understand, if they win this suit, we are released from negotiations (to 'self help') immediately.

That's what I got from a certain OE captain who asked me for a copy of my pay stub with my new hire bonus on it, anyway.

That would be nice but unfortunately, it is my understanding that only the NMB http://www.nmb.gov/mediation/faq-mediation.html can release us to self help. It would be nice if we could get a fair contract without a strike but at this point it seems like a strike may be the only way to make management understand that we will not settle for anything less than a fair contract. I think that management is making a big mistake in presuming that this pilot group can be intimidated or divided. We will stick together, support our MEC, remain professional and hold out for a fair contract.

Not so, if a Judge rules that the company did not maintain that status quo, it immediately triggers a release from mediation and a 30 day cooling off period. The problem is getting a judge that will side with labor.

That's why they're trying to have everything carried out in MSP.

You've got to be kidding. The union is crying because the airline wants to offer recruitment bonuses to attract qualified candidates? I have never heard of anything like this being an issue.

Companies across the country use recruitment bonuses daily to lure candidates. Even the military does it. This is nothing new. Why the fuss all of a sudden?

It seems to me that no matter where you go, pilots complain about pay. Go somewhere else that will meet your salary requirements if you don't like what you get paid. I knew exactly what I was going to get paid when I took the job offer, so I have no reason to complain. If I wasn't going to be happy I wouldn't have taken the offer.

They offered a pay increase only for the FO's, instead of a contract as well as bonuses.
