Were you IR current when you applied?

I hadn't flow much in the half year before my interview at Mesaba, so I got instrument current and day landings current in a multi, just to be "officially" back in the game. That way, when recent flight time came up, I had something positive and productive to say about it. Got the job, so it worked for me.
Congrats! What are your times?
I'm just curious because when I talked with XJ Pilot Recruiting they seemed really big on recency of experience and a preference for CFIs with current jobs.

Well, this was a few years ago, and a different HR group. However, the pilots doing the interviews were some of the same bunch. I was in the 1500-2000 hr range. Thanks for the "congrats", I'm still glad I got the job, even with the company's BK mess.
Even with a new HR recruitment team, be persistent and try to at least get the interview, regardless of your times or recency. Those are guidelines, but they can be, and certainly are, occasionally broken.
Once you get in the door, who you are will matter much more than what you are currently doing. Sure they have their preferences in HR, but that doesn't mean that other "profiles" don't get hired. If you are thin on the recency, then run up the old credit card and get current in a multi. It will also help get your head in the game for an interview.

I would say it depends on your background, how well you do in your interview, and how you perform on your sim. I hadn't flown an actual flight in 3.5 years prior to my interview(desk job). However, I was prior military with alot of multi engine turbine time. Plus, I flew alot of sims prior to my interviews to make sure I didn't fall flat on my face.
