ASA Job offer

microsoft flight simulator or X plane..
what he is saying though is you are better off with NO FD experience because typically in the sim portion of an interview you will fly the approach "raw data" meaning they will turn the FD off because anyone can follow a FD but it actually shows skill to fly it raw data. So the moral of the story is completely skip the FD and just work on your normal instrument scan and flying approaches at 140.
When you need to at airline training you will learn how to use the FD in less than 10 seconds, if it is the V bar style you just stick your v bar into the FD vbar and follow it around and it will cross up your loc and glide slope no problem.
at citation said....they make you lazy but sure are nice to have

Where are you guys staying during training? I stayed at the Red Roof Inn while at the interview, and don't care to spend the night there again. Is it still single occupancy? 3 months to IOE, is that from day 1, or from the time you complete training? Another question, since I already have an ATP and I'm typed in another aircraft, will this training be a PIC type for me? Thanks.

the past couple of classes have been staying at the la quinta, wellesley, and the holiday inn. nice places. also, dont recommend bringing a car.......the area around the airport is pretty bad for car theft. cars are stolen weekley out of the ops parking lot. haha red roof in is pretty rough. at the end of training (PC check) youll get an SIC rating. when you upgrade you get a PIC rating in the CL65/AT72. rooms are single occupancy as well.

My checkride is friday the 14th and I started oct 10th. I had a week between systems and indoc and it's been 2 months from first day of indoc to the type ride. This is typically how the schedule goes:
BI - 2 weeks
Systems - 2 weeks
CPT - 1 week (4 sessions)
Sims - just over 2 weeks (8 sessions scheduled)
Jumpseat OE - 1 week
IOE - typically around 2 weeks for 25 hours

If you get the ATR your schedule is a little different then the jet jocks.
Basic Indoc is the same.
Systems is three week, the first two weeks is learning the systems in a classroom, with every 5th day jumping in the ATR simulator and mashing buttons and seeing how all the systems work. The third week is Ops Mod, and CPT combined, then you get your last two CPTs in the simulator (unlike the RJ guys).
Then 10 days for so to do your 7 sim sessions and then a sim checkride.
Then comes the cool part, you get to fly out to one of the ATR overnights and get to do flight training in the actual airplane for two nights, and then the third night you do another checkride in the airplane. After that you do a LOFT session, and your jumpseat OE, and then it's off to IOE.
From start to finish it should take you about 2 months. It is going to have taken longer for me because I went through the holidays, and ASA was awesome enough to give us Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day off! (paid vacation!) You can't beat that. So I started on Nov 19th and will be done with jumpseat OE on Jan 31st, so not too bad everything considered.
