So if I pick I LA and get on reserve, does that mean I will be waiting for a while to actually fly, like when people call in sick or something Or will they base me in LA and make me fly out of a different city while on reserve, can I work as a flight instructor while I wait?

You can but you can't log that time. Pay would probably be illegal but they can't check that.

I'm currently sitting on 700 total and 75 multi.
I am pretty sure they would have mentioned it at my interviewing group, but absolutely nothing was said. It would be nice though. $500 can go a long ways for a new FO.

Hey, late already welcome to the AMR world. hahe, kidding aside if coming from 121 better know your 121 stuff, it'll be breeze. If not, study your basic IFR rules. If they ask you to brief an app, use the briefing strip, include the MSA, make sure brief the available runway length, and highest obstacle. That is a standard Eagle brief. Maybe you'll impress them. Which base you picking. May I reccommend BOS. good luck

This is my first 121 job. Thanks for the advice. I will consider BOS I just figured I'd go with ORD then in a year or whatever go to LAX. Finally got to my room 11pmCDT. I'm pretty nervous I would really like to work here.

I'm at the Baymont.. Anyone else interviewing tomorrow by any chance?

Being I will retire from the Army soon and haven't attending flight trainingyet, I am new to the industry. My question is, if after my training, I get hired by eagle and go to DFW, will the Jet training help me get to the majors faster than if I worked on a turbo prop? how does that work? They still pay you while in training on their airplanes after you get hired? Thank you.

I have a training class schedule March 17. Just continue to remind yourself a couple of things. Be yourself, don't be what you think they want you to be. And remember you have the job when you walk in, dont give them any reason to take it from you. Be cheerful and very outgoing. They want FO's that the Captain can get along with and all the people in HR are friendly, so be real friendly. No arrogance. Go in with confidence, they need pilots.

Not sure what gouge you looked at. Take a look at http://www.willflyforfood.cc/pilot_interviews/ click on american eagle. These gouges are right on. No more ATP written.

What is your flight time? Good luck.

**OH MOST IMPORTANT, it wil be a long day for you. Bring snacks, even a sandwich. Our interview started at 8am(?) and we left the simulator building at 10pm.

EDITED: I read down further. I guess I posted too late. Good luck. SuperPilotJesse

I have training in a week. And will have the final moment the first day of class to call my base. You mentioned BOS. I am interested in hearing your opinions. I did have BOS, then changed it to ORD praying for the ERJ.

I am no expert, all I can offer is opinion. On paper turbine is turbine. Turbojet~turbofan~turboprop. However , in my opinion later on in the majors if you have 1000 jet time versus 1000 turboprop time the jet time may be looked at as a notch about the other with turboprop. Like American Eagle, some airlines pay more for jet's versus props.

If I am reading your post right, it seems you are way ahead of yourself. I do that too myself by looking into the future and being goal oriented. But get through training, complete your military term and the airlines will be all different then they are today.

Training at AE is $23.91 per hour for 64 hours during training per month. In addition to that you receive per diem of 16 hours daily at $1.65 per hour. Essentially $2322.24 gross per month in training. Once you pass your sim checkride and then complete your IOE (initial operating experience) with a IOE captain you will then complete training and receive your guarantee whether reserve or line. Plus the per diem your schedule produces.

Hope I helped.
