Hasn't anyone heard? Eagle is for sale and the future is uncertain. I would rethink your choices.

What makes you think the future is so uncertain? How can the largest most expensive, marketable regional go under? Since I'm starting training soon, I'd like to know what makes people think Eagle is going to disintegrate.

I don't know if the $500 incentive is still out there. Tell your buddy to ask his CP.

As far as Eagle's future, I'm sure it will be flying but the amount it will be will likely shrink. We're simply not competetive and AMR didn't divest us to let us grow. They did it to bid out our flying.

You can't take the most senior workforce flying the smallest seat capacity jets and expect anyone to hire you. Eagle will be solid for about 5 years when its contract with AMR goes up in 2013, then it's anyone's guess. Oddly enough, that 5 year timeframe is the same as our guaranteed AA flight benefits will last. Coincidence?

Who's to say that managment wont buy new equipment? that was obviously a argueing point for AMR that Eagle wanted more 50 seaters when the TA was in play. I think that if there is a will there is a way and Eagle is to established in many markets across the country to just "go under" American would loose a lot of business if that happened. Beyond 2013 is anyones guess but to stay atop eagle is probably gonna have to sepnd some money on airplanes to make money.

Just jumped ship from there. When your own union is basically telling newer guys to start looking elsewhere you know you have problems. They sent out an email not too long ago highlighting upcoming job fairs. Doesn't that seem for you guys wanting to work there a bit odd? I was in Chicago but on the CRJ (forced into the airplane the first day of training). My ERJ buddies would come to work on the start of a 5 day rsv and wouldn't stop until day 5 sometimes they would be JR. maned into day 6. Boy that sounds like fun. There are plenty of other airlines out of ORD.... trust me....keep looking.

what airline does have a certain future? thats just the business.

Remember that not too long ago there was a time when getting hired by any airline was impossible no matter how many hours you had. Now I hear people complaining because they don't get an interview the minute the meet min hours (no one on here).

Keep things in perspective and enjoy the opportunity that you have to do the job you want. thats my advise to the new hires. And also dont have a feeling of entitlement- you will earn your job. good luck

I appreciate your optimism, but any new planes will simply replace aging ATRs or useless EMB 135s. There will not be growth.

exactly. I'm not talking about growth. just upgrading to more efficient aircraft. like getting rid of the EMB 135's. ATR's and SAABS are old but do the job. I cant see RJ's taking the SAAB markets, Especialy on the west coast. As far as the ATR's go I dont know much about the planes or the markets that they serve.
