Depends on the terms of the 15 year contract. But we aren't talking about contracts here, are we?

You're right it does suck getting two pay raises in 14months to bring you just under the curve for inflation. At least now you get to lose money every year. Contrats!

I'll take a 15 year contract if it had all of our current workrules and 3% COLA every year.

Two raises that I guarantee would have been much better with ALPA negotiating for you. Now you just have to settle for whatever management gives you.

With this passing, just shows why probationary pilots don't get to vote at union carriers.

No, actually you can't. Bur, it is the same tired, cirticuous arguement.

Did ALPA at United get guaranteed pay raises? Let's see what ALPA Mesa is getting, and going to get, assuming they stay in business. Why don't you go help them out, k?

Over 80% of the total pilot group voted. So, you're implying that the probationary pilots carried the day here? That doesn't even pass a smell test.

By the way, if what you're saying is true about voting; that the probs are afforded second class status non-voting status at a union carrier (and somehow, I can't imagine that even if this is true, that it applies to all union carriers), I don't follow the logic. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no logic, other than the pay for vote concept. No dues, no vote, eh?

Do you spoon feed the probs, too, or are they allowed to do that on their own?

So, when Jimmy Carter's son, little Jimmy W. gets elected in 10 years, and inflation hits 16%, you'll still think that's a good idea?

Airlines are a crap shoot in 5 years, and anything can happen in 15. I doubt I would vote for such a long term contract without some serious built in protections, like indexed to inflation for COLA's, or as I thought appropriate, indexed to the built-in inflation adjustments with our contract partners.

Probationary pilots are not dues paying members, which means they don't have voting rights.

Ya, I actually edited my post just before you posted this... and that was my guess, pay for votes.

Thanks for clarifying.
