Let's be honest. None of the regionals are overpaying people, including Horizon. Try and make ends meet as a first year UAL pilot.
We're supposed to have yearly salary reviews, so I'd say we stick our nose in the door in about 10 months. The reality is that in about 2 years and some change is our next likely time frame.
In the meantime, I'll enjoy my 0000000000000000000000000000.32% pay increase.

tony but you could have influenced this being a part of sapa right? our mec reps would never come back to us and say,, well this is what we could get out of them guys,, take it or leave it. we have never even voted on the companies pay proposal because our mec thought (and rightly so) that it was just down right pathetic.
Well, I don't think the proposal is pathetic, and I've previously itemized my thinking (on this forum) behind where we were, and where we are. I'm not going to repeat that.
I didn't personally negotiate this pay package... that was handled by the negotiating team. SAPA as a whole voted to put it to the pilots for vote.
Certainly, my personal choice would not have been to give myself a 0000000000000000000000.32% pay increase, but I do support the overwhelming majority who will get a measurable amount of money that we weren't scheduled to get. I voted to let the pilots decide, and I personally voted for the package. A huge, overwhelming majority of the pilots also voted for it.
I will add a bit of perspective of my airline internet experience. It seems that this medium attracts a certain individual that clearly doesn't match the mainstream line pilot at SkyWest. The folks who posted here were probably 95% against the pay proposal, yet in reality were only 25% of the folks who actually cast their vote against it. I'd suggest a somewhat similar comparison to the ALPA vote.
Time to move on from the pay issue.

If you dont believe that a .32% pay raise for ANY number of the pilots along with a 1% cola is pathetic...... well I think that just about says it all. If your company was unprofitable... maybe....... but by many measures SKW may just be the most profitable of all the regionals as well as a very healthy amount of money if the bank.....
I guess the real question is if in 2 years they offer an equally pathetic change to the payscales will you still be singing their praises...... ?????

Maybe the solution is to refer everyone you know (especially the 66%er's and 71%er's) to airlinepilotcentral. Maybe once they are a little more informed, they will realize that they got a lousy pay package compared to what they could have gotten.

All that tells me is that the majority of Skywest line pilots (the 66%er's and 71%er's) who are not on APC are the uniformed about the the current regional environment.

Did my statement upset you? I used to work at Skywest, and at one point considered staying there for a career. Once I realized that Skywest (one of the most profitable airlines in the industry over the last 6 years) wasn't willing to compensate me in a manner that exceeded the rate of inflation, AND forced me to fly larger equipment for the same pay rate, I decided to pursue a career elsewhere. I believe that skywest pilots, as a group, don't value their skillset very much (aiming low). Why else would they vote for and defend the recently introduced payscale. If you're happy there then that's fine. I am very happy where I am at and I can assure you that I have a life.
