Eagle's RJ familiarzation course
#21
Alot of guys here at eagle which they had the choice to take it, what does 800TT time have to do with learning a jet.....nothing. You still don't know a jet no matter how much TT you have in pistons. So to leave off it''s a good idea. But be prepared for everything that's all I have to say...............................
I took an RJ class before I interviewed, and yes it is worth it. Why not have Eagle Pay for it? But you wont be offered the choice unless they determine that you could use it. They are not just going to waist money on someone that doesnt need it.

No one's been sent home from our class yet. A few people have left because of personal reasons but not because they weren't doing well. In fact I think most of them are already back here in the classes behind us. They really haven't had any reason to send any of us home yet because we haven't been evaluated yet except for the written. If you think about it, they don't really have a good idea on our grasp of anything yet because we haven't done our orals. Of course that will change in a few days.
I've only heard of one guy being sent home since we got here and he was about a month ahead of us. From what I understand, he failed his oral and then failed several of the first sims. He also wasn't a jet guy. You've made it sound like people from our class who haven't had jet course experience have been let go and that just isn't the case.
And where are you getting the idea that they offer the jet course based on how you did in the interview? Did you hear that from them? Because frankly it just doesn't make sense. How does someone's ability to recognize symbols on an enroute chart, brief an approach plate, or talk about his proudest accomplishment have any indication of how he'll be in a jet 3X faster than anything he's flown before? I know from personal experience that they said right during the interview that I was doing really well and that I'd do fine during training. But they offered the week long course to me because of my really really low time (also not because of my 10% chance of making it through, either
)

Alright,
Took me a while to get registered but here goes.
I am at the RJ Course in Vero Beach, FL now. I was sent here because I did not meet the hiring minimums but did great on the interview. <--- Thier words. There are three reasons you get sent here. You failed the HR or Tech, Failed the Sim, or you don't have enough time. This was the director of recruitment's words. I would suggest it. I am loving it, and it is very informative. I will be ahead of my class in dfw on the 3rd because of this. Assuming others haven't done an rj course or have the experience. They pay for it. All of it. Even food. In return you sign an 18 month contract. There is no contract if you don't take this course. If you pass here but fail in dfw they waive the $10,000 fee. All other reasons you have to pay it back. So far anybody who made it through this course has made it in dfw. They have about 10,000 reasons for you to succede there. The ones who haven't made it here quit early in the first week so they didn't have to pay all 10,000. In fact from what the director said he didn't even make them pay. If they offer the course, no brainer, take it. Just make sure you are instrument current as far as ability goes, not experience. We had one person with 1200 hours have to go home for more IFR practice. After that, they said that person can come back and finish.

Food is paid for. They give you $217 for the cafeteria. I use that term loosely. The food is alright but gets routine too. You will want to go to the store to get fillers to keep it from getting it that way. The other part that sucks is the cafe closes at 2pm so you have to get your dinner to go and put it in the fridge. At least you get a microwave.
The hardest part is the seminole part. If you have never flown one it can be stressfull. Like I said, the ones that failed out did during the seminole flying and it wasn't because they didn't know how to fly. It was because they couldn't memorize the checklists and remember thier call outs and stuff like that. Come instrument proficient and you will be fine. If you will either pm me your email or post it here I will try to send you thier checklist so you can start working on it. Come ready to be confused from lack of communication.
