You'd have a hard time explaining right seat in a caravan

Show me an operator that has a 2 pilot requirement in their 135 ops specs and I'll show you a caravan that's legal to log SIC. Until then, you're just a passenger.

Who ever said 135? I mean, I am new to this 135-121 environment so not really sure if I am on the right track. If you had an airline (regular schedule flights) operating 208 would that be any different? Would a SIC be requiered by regs??

You get to use a striker. It's more like welding than flying.

If you are a REQUIRED crew member, log it as SIC. Under 135, an SIC is required; however, a functioning, three axis autopilot may (if authorized) beused in lew of an SIC. So if one flew right seat hauling pax and there was no autopilot, one can log SIC time.

Now, let me ask this question. How good is single-engine turboprop time in your logbook? Only reason why I am asking is because I am one of those Caravan drivers and it seems like although I have the experience in the weather and such, it doesn't help with multi PIC. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
(Speaking from my own interview expereince)

Depends HUGELY on what you are applying for. If you are going for SWA, 1000 Caravan PIC is nearly useless. If you are applying for a Conquest job with recent twin time, it is great. Going for a PC-12 job, it is iffy. The regionals only wanted to know my ME time and currency.

For airline purposes, caravan time is essentially useless. Someone will be along shortly to point out that several major airlines will hire those with single-engine turbine PIC...but really that only applies to F-16 drivers. If the viper had two engines, they would all require turbine multi PIC.

For civilians it needs to be multi turbine time.

If a 135 or 121 caravan operator has a requirement for an SIC in their OPSPEC, then you can log SIC. Otherwise, no.

Insurance requirements or "company policy" don't count, it has to be in the OPSPEC.
