So, you as a new EMB CA could bid CRJ CA tomorrow? If so, that's news to me. I thought you had a one year seat lock to complete.

ASA in 1998 was the first union regional to get cancellation pay, block or better, and all of that. We've always had leg-by-leg for cancellation pay, block or better (and we get paid off the published times in the Delta schedule and not based on historical trip times or anything like that), and being displaced off your trip (some contracts do it day-by-day which is not as good). Actually, in 1998, the things we got in our contract blew away most of the other regionals... it's just after 10 years some parts were dated. However, there are still airlines that don't have the work rules we had in our 1998 contract, which is a shame.

I am not sure exactly when SkyWest got their workrules, but I would bet any amount of money that it was in RESPONSE to a union carrier getting theirs.

THATS something non-union pilots will never understand. Whatever type of work-rule they have, was most likely in response for a UNION pilot negotiating it...........

I knew you wouldn't undestand my sarcasm. LOL!

BTW, you just got B or B. And grow up with the union crap.

Good day and I have to go fly.

Really, that's pretty narrowminded S. My father spent 32 years as a union pilot and my uncles is going on 29. But we must be too stupid to get it.....................please Saab, you're smarter than that?

BTW, for the 1 millionth time, I voted yes for ALPA.

Free Moutain Dew for any SKW pilot scheduled to work more than a 13-hour day. What ALPA carrier has that in their contract?

I just finished two 13 hour duty days...at the end of a 4 day and there was no Mt Dew for me. They must have just taken that away from us? Hey Jay...how was your commute to FAT yesterday?

I would think that I know my contract better than you! We had block or better in our '98 contract, and possibly before that (I was not there back then). We also had full cancellation pay (which was a first for the regional industry) and 100% deadhead, which some carriers still don't have.

Jet, I may have worded it poorly, maybe a lot do realize but is it fair to say that a majority of the work rules non-union airlines have, were granted to them becuase of the Union work groups?

That is just to ensure workforce turnover. Too much of that crap will do a number on your body (kidney stones, wreck your BP, heart problems). They are ensuring in 10 years you are unable to fly and they will hire a new guy to do your job.

Good day and I have to go fly.

And who says Jerry doesn't lie to you guys? Seriously, he told ya'll that? I was THERE in 1998 and a few years after. Had block or better, full cancellation, 100% deadhead, all off of Delta schedules, etc. that the previous poster listed. And yes, SKW pilots only got the Brad Holt override for higher 70 seat pay when JA saw ASA pilots would under no circumstance fly 70 seaters for 50 seat wages as SKW pilots did for 5 years. There is just 1 example of a unionized workforce making your life better JJ, so get with the program. Your yes vote was a good start at improving your and your fellow employees' QOL, but it didn't end because the drive failed.

I am not, for the record, a rabid pro-union guy. Unions have their problems, many rehashed by SKW pilots. I do, on the other hand, realize management cares only about the shareholder and their individual bonus payouts. Management in this industry has never had a pilot's welfare or best interests at heart. Even at SKW. Look at how your pay and benefits lagged other pilot groups historically. I also don't want the "Yeah, but we're on top" speech either. United used to be on top, as did Delta. Things change. Make the best of it while you are on top and hold on when things get rough.
