Is it just me, or does striking right now seem like a bad idea? Are these guys striking because their airline is doing so well right now and his management prefers the loss of revenue? Any pilot who wants to strike, is signing away their own career and retirement to the Judge...

Just makes sense, go ahead, Strike...

At what point is enough enough? How much more are you willing to give? If I lost my pension, 50% of my salary, most of the perks of working here, yeah I would walk. As some point it's time to stop being pushed and push back.

If any pilot group, especially at the major level strikes, that airline is as good as dead.

...Now, on to the actual question. Until Teamsters Local 747, on behalf of the pilots of Republic Airways Holdings, authorizes and initiates a strike, I will continue to fly my schedule as published. Since I do not work for United, it would be a physical impossibility for me to fly struck work until the previously mentioned scenario comes to pass.

You don't come across as a has-been so which one are you?

A picket line is a picket line - no matter which union holds it. I'm embarrassed for you if you are in fact a union member.

One step further, where do fee-for-departure operations get paid? RJ pilots are going to have an opportunity to play a part in an upcoming strike whether they want to or not.

Just curious. You guys are striking for better pay and work rules. Do you expect the regional guys to strike when they get nothing out of it?

If a UAX regional decided to strike would UAL guys follow suit?

It's easy to rationalize why you'll SCAB if that's your point. Otherwise ask yourself if you're a unionist or if you wear a union pin because it's in vogue.

The UAL pilot group has a proven track record of honoring picket lines of all sorts. The UAL CONTRACT specifically states that pilots are not required to perform struck work or cross a picket line.....what does YOURS say?

I think some of you are reading too far into the original post. He is not asking for the regionals to also go on strike, just for them not to fly routes that become open due to a mainline strike. A regional is not flying "struck work" as long as it doesnt pick up any routes abandoned by mainline, or does not increase frequency on routed served by mainline and regional.

I would love to support any group that goes on strike, but like us at 9E do you think compass, mesaba, or mainline NWA would stop flying if and when we go on strike? Not a chance... is what I think.
So I throw the question back, if a UAX airline went on strike would UAL mainline pilots stop flying... again not a chance.

Just my 2 cents

This is the PERFECT example of why ALPA is NOT a union. It is an ASSOCIATION. There is no power and that is exemplified by the responses here. I am staunch union which is also meaning united (not the airline you tools) and this is embarrassing. There is no cohesion. None. If we all worked together and shut things down we would have power.

As for Teamsters, go for it. That union is a joke. I had to endure it until it was run out of town. They just want your money.....Kinda reminds of...

Jimmy Hoffa is dead. Quoting flying the line is dead. That era of aviation is gone. All that is left is a bunch of pilots that **** on each other only helping to deteriorate the industry.

It used to be that an airline pilot was a great job. Now we want distinction, Regionals, corporate, freight, different unions. We are better at one over another yada yada yada. That's why the industry has crumbled in the last 15 years.

Just read the posts. Judgemental rather than supportive.

What in the hell makes anyone feel entitled (regional guys) to support?

Go work for a living.
